Well the University of Arkansas Razorbacks could be dead for all the World seems to care. Very little of any mention of them since the big layoff. Wonder if they laid off the U of A sports writer as well?  Would seem so. Soooiee Pig we are on the rise again. Barch72  [8D]

Say Bread.. are you by chance one of those OU people. Even before I wrote the post I knew someone was going to ask that very exact rhetorical question. Not to disappoint.

The Arkansas coverage is way down:

No stories since February 1st.  I wonder if they did cut their Arkansas beat writer?  Or maybe it is the 1-8 slide they have been on.

I'd be interested to see the college alumni breakdown in the Tulsa area.

It's not just the Tulsa World that doesn't give a **** about Arkansas Razorbacks, I can assure you that.

The World hasn't spent much effort on the Razorbacks in years.  I realize there is a lot of local interest, but I also think it's fair if our paper gives their state the coverage they give our teams.

Saw such a survey a couple of years ago. The Arkansas people over here number in the thousands. But, yet the same holds true for Okla people in Northwest Arkansas.

The two areas are inextricably linked together as major commerce centers supporting each other. The immediate retort from many to this type of offering about the Razorbacks, "Is who give a rip." Well, aside from individual observations and prejudices scores and scores do.

Surprisingly there are people that live in Arkansas that work in Tulsa every day as well as the reverse.

Don't care, doesn't matter?? Don't think so. Well, perhaps if you live in the ground like a mole.

Really? How many? A couple dozen?

I mean, those are killer commute costs. That's insane to drive that much five days a week. I have to be skeptical that the numbers are remotely substantial.

Your gripe was about the Razorbacks.  How this equates to interstate commerce and commuting patterns...wait, what are you trying to say?

So, I'm sure the 100 U of A graduates in Tulsa that can read are real pissed off about it, too.

Boom, roasted.

according to U of A Alumni Assoc statistics, outside of Arkansas, only Dallas has more U of A grads than Tulsa, so your comment about 100 razorbacks in TUlsa is lame at best.

That, of course, only applies to those who bother to keep their current address on file with the Alumni Association. My SO is still getting mail from them at the place she lived when she was going to grad school there. :p

Not much difference than those going back and forth to OKC or many other locations that far.

I know it does sound out of whack but true.

SXSW

Tulsa is closer to Fayetteville than it is to Norman.  I personally know quite a few UA grads that live in Tulsa.

Yes SX... what you say is true. Fayetteville and Springdale and for that matter Bentonville are like sister cities to us folks in Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma. For that reason no serious person should say, "Who the heck cares."  "Cause it ain't so."

Then I can say again. The Razorback football program is on the rise. Accordingly the Tulsa World needs to stop with their Sectarian attitude and wise up. Lots of news being made over there.

Sooooieee Pig!!

Sorry, I'm being completely serious when i say "who the heck cares".  Last time I checked UA has been in a different conference for decades.

Albuquerque is closer to Amarillo than Austin.  Does that mean the Amarillo paper has to cover UNM sports too?  Amarillo is closer to Boulder, CO than Austin, do they need to report and write articles on CU sports?

The fact of the matter is there are plenty of sources out there for sports scores / that would offer more insight into your pig school than the Tulsa World ever could.
