The old Village cleaners location (next to Channel 2, formerly a Braums) is being remodeled.  I heard a rumor that an OKC-based bagel place is moving in, but I haven't gone by to look at the posted building permit to (hopefully) confirm that rumor.

Has anyone heard anything?

exactly, but there is nothing on their website about a new location; at least not the last time I looked

As much as I love Panera, competition is very much welcome!

The problem with Panera is that the bagels there are not boiled.  Like some of their other items, but not the bagels.

Must have good bagels ....

If its the building I think it is. I was hoping someone would tear it down and build up to the sidewalk.

Those who think it is a luxury have only a fragment of a mind. Mans spirit grows hungry for art in the same way h

I am with you on that.   As for Panera bagels, those are just baked bread rings, they are not bagels.  I not all that impressed with most stuff Panera puts out.  Basically they all taste the same.  boring.

I know the contractor doing the remodel, and I believe that's who he said it was...

Well, I guess I just don't know anything else. I love Panera's Cinnamon Crisp bagels.

Then enjoy them and ignore what everyone else might have to say.   My experience was driving from Tampa to Miami on bagel runs to Bagel Faire in North Miami Beach and buying 12 or 14 dozen for guys in my dorm.  THis was a very authentic Jewish bakery.  They boiled them.  My favorites were the onion bagels.  They were only about 3 inches across and with some good cream cheese, delicious.

I pretty much agree with inteller.
