Aspartame warning?

I generally ingest small amounts of sugar anyway, and avoid all these artificial sweeteners.  But thought maybe some of you do take in Aspartame and might have heard about this.

That op-ed is wrong-headed on so many levels, it's hard to know where to start. To start with, MS has been around before aspertame was even on the market. So that cause/effect is dubious, to say the least.

You'd think that with this sweetener having been in the market for about 20 years, you'd see some specific health effects in massive numbers of people by now.

And any fool who chugs down eight Crystal Lights per day has other issues. Yeesh.

I wouldn't take that ill-conceived missive seriously.

I think there is as much scientific basis for this conclusion as there is that Vioxx and Celebrex were killing morbidly obese people who had heart disease...very little to none.
