What will you give up for Lent?

I am not Catholic, but the idea of giving up a vice for a month and a half to be closer to God seems like a good idea.

Last year I gave up cheeseburgers. I made it all the way till Easter, then had one for breakfast.

I lent my neighbor some flour, and got some cookies in return.

That's good lenting.

I gave up smoking about a week and a half ago...that's all I'm willing to do for the moment.

How's that going?  You have support from me; I gave it up about 2 years ago and sure glad I did.  If you can make it 10 days there's a 50 percent better chance you'll stay off the sticks for good.

Good luck.

Thanks Hoss.  It's going.  It's a crazy thing, since I've quit I have less of an urge to go to a bar after work.  Guess the dogs at home appreciate that.

I keep seeing lighters around the house and think to myself "Don't need that much anymore".

I thought about giving up beer for Lent, but then I remembered the quote from Ben Franklin:

"Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."

So I'm going to give up being unhappy for Lent.

Stick with it.  I'm 14 months nicotine-free and loving not being a slave to it any more.

I tried to give up quitting, but I didn't make it.

I usually drink vodka.  Guess I'll give that up & start drinking gin.  And give up the Marshall's  Pub Ale for the IPA.

Anything for Jesus or Mary or whomever!!

As a Luthern we can eat anything during Lent, but we should avoid all meat on Good Friday. I'm planning on doing a 10-mile Easter Bunny run, I believe the race is on Easter Saturday at 7:45am, but not sure, it may be the Saturday before Easter.[:)]

This year, I'm giving up ice cream.
I'll also be eating fish on Fridays.

Fwiw, I'm not Catholic or even particularly Christian.

Now you're just a slave to Eric Marshall's joyful elixir.
