Does anyone have any inside information on when band announcements will be made for this year's Dfest? All of the other major summer festivals announced their lineups already, and it seems like time for this one to happen.

Any info out there? I hope it will be as good as or better than last year.

They just announced the Mayfest headliners (booked by Dfest) this week. Expect the Dfest headliner announcements closer to the first of May. They also do them in stages, so don't make your decision day one.

Mayfest is Sister Hazel and The Old 97's, by the way.

I don't know who the bands will be, but I have been working with the DFest folks on festival details. They are really committed to making it even bigger and better.

Power is nothing till you use it.

I guess I am getting too old, I have no idea who these bands are.
It's hard being a Diamond in a rhinestone world.

Sister Hazel's big hit was 12 years ago. How old are you?

"big"?

I don't know who those bands are, and I am very current with music. So I think to say 'big' hit may be stretching it. Besides, Dfest is about bands who can play to full houses without any 'hits'. I would rather see bands with no hits, but good writing and playing.

Anyway, May still seems very late to announce for July. I am going to Bonnaroo in June, and those bands were announced the first of Feb.

I am still keeping my fingers crossed for some good acts.

Probably too much to hope for My Morning Jacket, their tour is over, I believe. (If you don't know who My Morning Jacket is, go here: www.mymorningjacket.com. Very good stuff.)

I've heard the names but that's about it.  Don't know either band's music.  Hence questioning the use of the word "big".

The Wakarusa festival is moving to Ozark, AR this year.  I wasn't that impressed by the lineup other than a couple of bands, but there are some pretty big names there.

Uhh Sister Hazel had a pretty big hit in 1997, I was only 14 and I remember it being played all over the place on the radio and in TV shows.

I'd go to hear those bands...especially The Old 97's. They've been around since the early 90s...and got lumped in with the alt-country scene.  They have a bit of a power-pop edge to them...along with a little pedal-steel. Good live band.

Agreed - I'm hoping you won't be disappointed with Sister Hazel. While they do have that one pop hit that got played to death on the radio, they actually have some other hard to find discs from before they were "big" that has some fantastic music.  A little bit more blues/southern rock style and they do write their own stuff.

My Morning Jacket is awesome as well - saw them at ACL a couple years back.
