i went to work yesterday and walked into a bad stink..i thought it might be some bad fruit or garbage in the trash bin. last night at home i was washing dishes and smelled it again, then when i was showering i found the very distinctive smell was coming from my Tulsa city water supply.

anyone else noticed this smell in the last 24-36 hours?

No, I didn't.  But I did hear that bad smells like that can indicate a brain tumor.

I smelled my water in east Tulsa and in downtown and didn't notice a smell. What part of town you live in?

I drew tap water at both my houses last night and didn't smell anything weird.  I think you both got the same tumor.

Water at home this morning near DT and no smell, drinking some now near Lake Yahola at the Cherokee BP and it smells fine.

Have you thought about having your sewer lines checked,  are they leeching into your potable water supply in some way?  I have not noticed anything off kilter at home or at work.

I did not notice anything this morning when I took the second shower of the AM (my wife was first, thus indicating that we used plenty of water to ensure we cleared the lines and would get any new smell).  I just checked here at the office and notice nothing.  Not even a chlorine smell that we often get in the early summer.

Both locations are in midtown.

The Tulsa City/County Health department can test water for you.

There is a slight fee based on what you want it tested for.

WATER SNIFFERS!
Just drink it, and listen closely to everything I say.

Soon you will be happy, calm and uh, more. . . helpful.

I live just about 10 houses east of you on 26 Street and have not noticed any problems with my City water, taste or odor.  In fact, I have not had any taste or odor problems with my water in about 5 years.

Tulsa has a pretty good handle on most of the smell issues in water. The chicken waste issues caused Tulsa to spend considerable amounts of money to help correct the problem. The chicken waste wasn't so much unhealthy as it was untasty. I called it "Chicken Poop for the Soul".

I once was a judge in a regional water tasting conference. They served us chilled water samples from 36 area water treatment plants from four states. Each sample was delivered to me in an unmarked martini glass and I had to rate them on five categories.

Tulsa's Mohawk water treatment plant finished number one.
