My dad's from Jamaica and my Mom is from Trinidad.  I go to Carnival in Trinidad every year (except this past year).  Magen's Bay is a nice beach, which is in St. Thomas, that's where I first scuba dived.  VERY NICE!

Have you traveled to other Islands in the West Indies?

PM Conan. This "friendly conversation" should take place elsewhere. Maybe in the raw.....

And that's kinda crazy that you're a hockey fan.  We'd get along just fine.  Tulsa has an AA level team that plays in the new arena; I'm a season ticket holder.  Seats down on the glass for 32 home games are about 690.

As far as NHL...I'm for any team that happens to be playing the Red Wings.  Can't stand the Flying Tires....

LOL cool, might have to check it out what's the team's name?  My fav. is Maple Leafs but I'm in Hurricane country currently  ::)

Ok sorry for sidetracking everyone.

Well I started the thread and didn't care that it got sidetracked!  No worries Cherish.

BTW, I've been to St. Lucia, Barbados, Puerto Rico and Trinidad & Tobago (both islands).  Going to Trinidad in August for 10 days.  Now looking for an apartment there with a/c, LOL

I know what good seafood tastes like, so I'm guessing that no way will the sushi here taste anything like what I experienced in Honolulu...sigh :'( :-\

Well I know you'll have fun in Trinidad.  I'm drooling right now with the food you'll be eating like doubles, roti & curry chicken (my Fav!), phulourie, buss up shut, and pelau...and wash it down with Carib beer, ginger beer (need an acquired taste for this one), or Coconut water...mmmm  ;D

HoneySuckle

And also fruits and coconut water!  Can't wait.  I'm a big fan of Ginger beer, and mauby ;D

Daughter wants to go to In The Raw for her birthday this week.  I just read some not very nice reviews on Trip Advisor.

Some of you still think they make okay Sushi?  I guess we could take her and I could have something to drink :-\

I've never had a negative experience at In The Raw. Same with Tsunami (when they were around), Asahi, and Fuji.

I've started to ignore the reviews on places, because the only time any seems to comment is if they've had a negatvie experience (which is never balanced by positive experience feedback). Then again, I've also started ignoring most user comments sections.

I just ate at the one in OKC last night with my GF.  The sushi is good by Oklahoma standards, the presentation is good, and the service is usually pretty good at ITR.  My only complaint on ITR has been the blaring techno music they play at the 61st & Sheridan location which keeps getting louder as the crowd gets bigger.  It wouldn't be quite so bad if the acoustics didn't suck so bad in that room.  The only other complaint I ever hear is all the "posers" that eat at the one on Brookside.  I guess I'm not too concerned about who else is in there when I go because the crowd doesn't bother me and I'm pretty far from pretentious.

It's never going to be quite as fresh as what you find on the coasts, but again by local standards, it's pretty good.  We had the ID, Rockin' Cajun, and Some Like It Hot rolls.  We both love very spicy food.  No disappointments with the Rockin' Cajun.
