Heard a rumor that QT was purchasing the Lee's Bikes building on Brookside and that Lee's may be moving to the old Hollywood video building.  Anyone know if this is true or have any other info?

When did they move from Harvard?

I don't ever remember a Lee's on Harvard.  There was one at 81st & Memorial and they own the Trek store at 96th'ish & Riverside.

Are you thinking of Mid-Town which used to be Venables at 27th & Harvard?  They are still there, and my preferred outfitter (shameless plug for another locally-owned business I like).

I liked Venable's for two reasons.  First, it's always comforting to see a mechanic with more gray hair than me.  And second, I loved that whiff of WD-40 and new tires that hit me in the face when I opened the door.

Then again, Tom Brown has more gray hair than me.  Don't tell him I said that!

May you live in interesting times.

Tom Brown had all that gray hair even before I met him 20 years ago!  There's a good success story, FWIW.

Tom's got gray hair? Wow! I've only known him with white hair!  ;D

My mistake , it was Venables I was thinking about. Got my first BMX there back in '78

Glad to see the Hollywood video space filled with a great tenant but hate to see the Lee's building torn down.  I wonder if QT will build a larger store or just expand the pumps?  Heard anything about this Conan?

No, I heard it from the Lee's side of things from a friend who knows Adam pretty well.  Wish I had better 411 on the QT side of the fence, but don't.

Someone from Lee's told me that they made a run at the Hollywood video building but couldn't come to terms.  I see now a sold sign on the building so I'm wondering who got it.  Any updates?

Will Lee's be moving out of Brookside or are they looking at other locations?  And does QT really need the whole block between 36th St and 36th Pl?

If it's to expand that QT, then as a patron of that QT, I would say yes, cosidering the traffic and usual difficulty in finding a parking spot there.

Its not about needing to or not imo, unless they have some way of expanding that is in some way in accordance with the Brookside Plan, they shouldn't be allowed to expand.

There are places all over this city where you can't build things unless you get an exception approved (no mixed use, no high-rise, parking requirements, etc.).  This area is no different and I can't see that Brookside would allow a typical QT expansion in this area.  It would be completely anathema to the Brookside Plan.
