This is a pretty entertaining video.  Mark takes on Dewey's allegations of being "too liberal for Tulsa."  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaIOHg4JBKE

Oh, my.  That was sooooo bad.  I like Mark Perkins, and think he has a good future ahead.  But that video really just reinforced for me that he is wayyyy too young and inexperienced.  And he needs to lock up his guns.  Not the best idea to display for all the world to see where you keep your guns.

If he'd have limited it to the original statement it would have been fine. But Jeebus Mark, $2million stormwater expense?  W T F for? Kudos for getting your unnamed councilor to get Public Diswerks to look into a minor residential drainage issue...

He's never run anything except this campaign.

I am shocked---simply shocked that a candidate for mayor would violate the leash law---and then video tape it.

DOG AT LARGE.... DOG AT LARGE.....  call animal control!

..... better not go to the Arboretum.

Hmm...

Maybe he finally figured out that its amateur-hour quality wouldn't be helpful to his campaign.

He got a bunch of calls from his beer buddies telling him he was not centered.

Perkin's web site says the YouTube video go pulled "for security" reasons--showing where he keeps his guns I guess.  Anyway here are two links that tell the rest of the story.

http://www.markfortulsa.com/2009/11/guns-lies-dewey-mark-sets-the-record-straight/

In the now pulled video Perkins takes us around his house showing the viewer his hunting rifle, hunting clothes and life-time hunting license.  He then shows us his very nasty looking very big hand gun kept next to his bed.  I guess everyone has to pander when it comes to guns in Oklahoma.

He also calls Bartlett a liar and deceptive--true.  I guess even the most self-righteous of candidates have to go "negative" when the lie is big enough and now directed toward you.  Looks like Bartlett got Perkins to take the bait.

This reminds me of Churchill discussing the oldest profession with a  great lady. He ask her if she would have sex with him for a 100 pounds--she was incensed and outraged.  He then increased the offer to a million pounds and she paused obviously thinking about the proposal.  Churchill retorted--ahh now that we have established what you are--lets just negotiate over the price.

So now Perkins knows what Adelson has been dealing with--relentlessly false and deceptive ads.  Mr. Clean Perkins--the first time he is on the receiving end of the Bartlett attack machine goes negative--something he said he would not do. Now that the shoe is other other foot...... hmmm feels a little different doesn't it?

I'm not sure how pointing out the obvious is an attack ad. Bartlett made blatantly obviously false claims like Perkins wants to take your guns away and Adelson wants to kill to governor. So you're allowed to say "the thing Bartlett said is a lie" but saying "he is a liar" is not okay?

Bartlett is so sleazy, I really hope Tulsan's have the sense to not elect him today.

I absolutely agree it is OK to call Bartlett a liar, but my point was "negative" is in the eye of the beholder and whether you are on the receiving end of the lie.  To a significant extent Perkin's justifiable and arguably "negative" response validates much of what Adelson has been forced to do.

I call on all my mid-town friends who got so upset with Tom because of some of his ads to come home--vote for him with vigor and enthusiasm because this last incident with Mark Perkins  reveals the soft very dirty underbelly of the Bartlett campaign and the true character (or lack thereof) of Dewey Follett Bartlett, Jr.
