They have closed the Turner Turnpike.

They (KRMG) said there is lightning in Western Tulsa County with the snow.   It is snowing at 3-4 inches an hour.

Looks like you are going to have an adventure tonight.
Trust but verify

From an unreliablesource! :D

Pretty awesome outside.....

Talk about a very quiet and peaceful Christmas....except for those the local media barely hardly covers like the homeless, the unfortunate ones, and our shelters.

The local media concentrates on the snow, the traffic and the airport .... as though they miss the entire purpose of the day.

Goodwill to all!

Stay warm...

BAPD and a '98-02 Camaro were getting around in it just fine about 45 min ago.

Of course Subaru AWD was awesome....

At least one big clap of thunder followed lightning in midtown, saw two more flashes earlier but no sound.

Apparently this is the second time in NWS history Tulsa has had a blizzard warning.

Part of the Broken Arrow Expressway is closed by weather (around hy169) as well.

I predict DUI arrests tonight will be under-quota.  ;)

We have about 8 inches of snow here at the adobe in Owasso with 2-3 foot snow drifts up against the greenhouse.   :o

Putting off Christmas dinner with the family.  Not everyone will be able to travel to get here.

The radio is reporting cars are abandon all over the Tulsa area.

If you must travel make sure you are in a car/truck with high ground clearance.

Merry Christmas.

Why do people just abandon their vehicle right in the middle of the road? Idiots

There vehicles should be towed and impounded, and their owners ticketed.

1.  To intentionally block the snow plows.

2.  They want the insurance company to buy them a new car when the snow plow destroys it.

3.  They cannot move it to the side of the road.

That's just at the airport my friend. Very very difficult to measure snow when the wind is blowing 40 mph.

"At the National Weather Service's Tulsa office, Blood said meteorologists heard "thundersnow" and saw lightning during the height of the snow storm. "In those convective bursts, we believe it was falling at the rate of 4 inches per hour," he said, adding that the bursts didn't last long. "

I have mixed feelings about being in Florida for Christmas and missing out on this. On the one hand. it was 80 and sunny today and the low will be in the lower 60s. Much nicer than a frozen face thanks to the wind chill. On the other hand, I missed the largest snowfall we've had in quite some timeand have kept my very long running streak of no white christmases since the 80s.,

Heh...tight....

That's it? No photo punishment for my humorous insolence directed at the BB?  Must be your Christmas spirit...
