I recently heard about this project that involves expanding First Presbyterian Church to the east with a new entrance and courtyard garden fronting Cincinnati.  They are supposed to start construction in 2011 once they raise all of the funds.  One surface parking lot at a time...

Aerial showing the church at 7th & Boston and the new expansion on its east side.  It also looks like they are adding a second steeple tower at the southwest side of the sanctuary, a nice addition to Boston's street wall

The new courtyard looking west toward the church

New stone gates to be installed at the corner of 8th & Boston where FPC also owns the Bernsen Community Center across the street

Nope....C Streeters are reactionaries and wingnuts. You should know that.
Those congregrunts are no C streeters. At least the one's the devil befriends.

Construction has started, the parking lot is gone.

This will give the church more of presence along Cincinnati with the new addition and along Boston with the second steeple tower.  Good project for downtown.  And when was the last time a project started before they had initially planned?

When they have the money and an eager contractor with not enough jobs.

Does anyone know who the construction contractor is for this project?

In the background of that first rendering is a parking structure that doesn't currently exist.  It would replace surface parking on the southeast corner of 7th and Main.  Any idea if that is actually happening?  Would be a nice trend for churces downtown.

Flintco.  Big surprise I know.   :)

And the parking garage, from what I hear, is for a future phase.  I don't know the timetable for that one.  Interesting that there is still surface parking along 8th.

Took this pic right before the Tulsa Run on Saturday.  They are doing a lot of excavation/retaining wall work for the basement below the expansion first.

They've found 7 rusted out old cars so far.

Just thought I'd post this link. It's a pretty good vantage point. Construction is coming along nicely.
