Bowling alley built as part of the Elliott Nelson empire. Will be located in the building adjacent to Dilly Deli on the south side.

I look forward to hanging out in the alleys in downtown Tulsa.

I'm hoping they aim their pricing at more a per game as opposed to per hour. Last time I tried to bowl with friends, it was cost prohibitive if you just wanted to play a game or two because (riverlanes) was catering to league bowlers.

I was also wondering how hard it would be to have bowling where you didn't have to rent footwear from a washed up Ska band. Just adds time and money to the equation and makes it harder for lunchtime bowling.

Hmm.. lunchtime bowling leagues...

Growing up in Tulsa Bowling allies, and seeing the current state of the local houses.... I've wondered if it'd be financially viable to start up a new house while not charging out the wazoo.

Just last week went to the East Village Taven & Bowl in San Diego:

Very cool concept. It is right downtown, and shows all the big games on multiple flat panel screens in the bar area. The food was great and drinks were reasonable. They are now opening one in Phoenix.

It looks like they do pricing by the hour, or per game. Its pretty reasonable too. Hopefully this one in Tulsa will incorporate the whole sports bar/tavern/gaming/ concept under one roof in a large open area. The place was packed!

BTW I love the name 'Dust Bowl'. Very cute.

My foot size usually means I get almost brand new shoes or the one pair of size 16s that they bought from big foot at a garage sale.

I am so embarrassed to have my foot size shown to the other bowlers that I bring little pieces of duct tape with me to cover the numbers.

From what I gather, its going to be a very tight fit,,, not much building left over once the lanes are in (especially front to back) so I dont think this is going to be a "large open area".

I ran across this bowling alley that I think could be a decent comparable to what ours might be like, even has that laid back hang out/loft type, of vibe that would fit right into the area.

I wonder how many lanes the Dust Bowl will have.

I suspect it's going to look like this:

It's a second-floor alley that's been in downtown Manchester, Mo., since the 1920s. I went there for a party and had a blast.

I assume smaller than that, definitely no room for pool tables.

Facebook page is up. Says they are a "few weeks" away from opening.

Any word on how many lanes are going in?  I assume it will be impossible to get a lane for the first few months without a very, very long wait based on popularity and size.

No alcohol during the day?

That will change. I've never tried bowling while sober, even though that might make me a better bowler I just can't imagine that is the point of the game. bowling = beer
