thanks for noticing guys
a couple of disclaimers...while I have a degree in architecture, I am still working towards my architecture license and by law cannot refer to myself as an architect. Instead I refer to myself as a designer, which I much prefer anyways.

While I co-founded the Lortondale Neighborhood association and acted as its president for almost 4 years, I am currently not the president of the neighborhood association, but the at-large officer.

Will, the front of the restaurant currently is two large storefronts, we are going to keep them this way for the reasons you mentioned. It is important to me and the owner that there is a sense of transparency at the front of the restaurant so that everything is on display. Imagine going north on Boston at twilight the night of a ballgame and looking into the large storefronts of Hey Mambo and seeing the place packed with people....there is no better signage or advertising than that.

I'm in the same boat with the architecture degree but no license; started the NCARB record when I was working in design then switched to construction and stopped and now may be going back to design with the goal of (one day) being licensed.

I walked by the storefront last weekend and it will be very visible from the street.  I really hope they can get the funding together for the Matthews Warehouse/Living Arts Center across the street.  That and the restaurant will really liven up that area of Brady.

Now open. Looking forward to trying their pizza. The outdoor patio area looks very inviting, too.

Had dinner and drinks.  The wife and I enjoyed it very much.  We've already scheduled dinner plans later in the week with family.

We got some great inside scoop about more development in the area too.

It was limited information and I'm not trying to be coy but the parking lot to the South of the restaurant is going bye bye.  (Not the new hotel)

and my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.

Honestly though, we got a tidbit of information before Scott realized his outside lights and sign weren't on.  (cool backlighting btw)

Underground parking was mentioned.

The name keeps me thinking of this place as somewhere to get a Cubano.  And there's a wine already out they can call their house wine.  ;)  FMC and I will have to try this next time she's in town.
