The icepocalypse is coming...

I was just at the hardware store...which was a zoo.  Everyone was picking up ice melt, shovels, etc.  I saw a lot of folks buying propane (we still have some left from our 10 days without power a couple years ago, so I'm not too worried about that).

It reminded me that Just Camp (the new camping store downtown...around 12th and Frankfort) carries a lot of Coleman products.  Stoves, heaters, accessories, etc.  I think they had fuel, too, but I'm not totally sure.  In any case, this might be a great resource for anyone who wants to pick up a few "survival essentials," since the big boys are going to sell out pretty quickly over at Lowe's and Home Depot.

I hate it when the forecast shifts this much. I wanted a foot of snow!

The day shift guys at NWS Tulsa have been pushing the ice storm situation for days, while the night shift guys seemed to think it would be more snow. The models are looking more icy now, though, so maybe it'll hold, although they've gone from good general agreement to all over the freaking place. The GFS still wants to put us under 8 inches of snow.

I need to get more kerosene...

Travis (6) said last night his models indicated 6" to 3 feet, but he doubts the 3 feet....

Might be a little late now (thankfully I have plenty of batteries), but does anyone know anyplace locally I can buy a kerosene lantern?

Nathan, only place I can think of would be HD or Lowe's.  Maybe Academy Sports?

I just fired my generator for the first time since Dec. '07.  It took some coaxing, but it's running like a champ.

My husband bought batteries, flashlights and an LED lantern at Big Lots today. People don't always think about Big Lots.

Hopefully a lions share of this crap falls in sleet form.  Might eff up the roads but at least it won't be like the nuclear holocaust in 2007.

I checked mine last night.  Same elapsed time, same results.  Filled the 5 gallon generator tank with gas from the lawn tractor supply and got 10 more gallons.

I've been to Big Lots a couple of times but they didn't have anything I really wanted or needed at the time.  It kind of reminded me of the K-Mart at 121st and Memorial years ago.

This is sort of interesting,
You can follow about a dozen live dashcams out in the storm at

Mine did too but never out. Was wondering if it was wind.

My power in west Tulsa was out for about an hour in the evening, but no problems since then.
