It wasn't bad when I could keep rolling but getting going from a stop sucked. I had to come from west Tulsa via I 44 to Yale. 44 wasn't bad, Yale is pretty slick.
I predict that I will be very happy with my sister's decision to leave her 4WD here while she wanders around Costa Rica when it comes time to go fetch she-who-must-be-obeyed.

I also predict that my Shih-Tzu who has less than 5 inches of ground clearance will not appreciate going for a walk. ;)

A bigger dog just means bigger piles of poop to pick up!  :o

Despite her initial excitement, the Shih-Tzu decided very quickly that wading through the snow was not for her. :P

Yeah, Butch isn't real crazy about deep snow.  Thankfully for him, he doesn't have enough weight to drag the fifth appendage across the snow  ;)

That's a problem I have. We all have our crosses to bear.

Sorry, had my 17 year old regression moment. Happens once a year.

Hey everyone, check out my iReport I submitted to CNN. I submitted the same video to KOTV but for some reason, it's saying that it doesn't exist so whatever. It's a 4 minute video of my struggle with others to climb the hill on 71st Street near Sheridan heading towards Yale.

I know that are very well. In late '83 I worked at the old Vickers gas station just south of Sheridan and lived in the Copper Mill apartments just past the top of the hill back when it was two lane. Had to try several times one night to climb the hill in a Triumph TR6 in the snow, spent most of it going sideways up the hill. The right rear always wanted to try and pass the right front. The worst part was if I lost momentum and started the slide back down the hill, with the angle the car was in I would turn left to get the car to at least face the right direction to go back down.

Um which guy? Roger Wheeler? Shot and killed at Southern Hills CC in the parking lot? The guy that held people hostage in the what was McCartney's at 71st and Sheridan? Just some background, I was born in Tulsa at St. Francis in 1963 and lived in Tulsa until May of 1998, so my memory of things covers a long range of time. I can still remember when the Kiaser Magnesium plant on 41st near the RR tracks exploded in the 60's, and my parents wher living in Tulsa when a B-47 bomber exploded in mid-air near 71st and Memorial in '57 and the debris rained down on the square mile that is 21st to 31st, and Memorial to Sheridan. I graduated from Nathan Hale in 1981, and my brothers graduated from Hale in "70, '71' and '73.

You probably remember Sheridan northbound towards 61st by the water tank before they cut the hill way down.  It's the only hill my brother and I couldn't get over in his 77 Saab.  Going northbound, there were no guardrails and there was a nasty drop on the east side.  We started sliding backwards so my brother switched ends (really slick maneuver with front wheel drive) and we went south.  Probably just as well. I doubt we could have stopped at the bottom of the hill at 61st.

For those of you who haven't done front wheel drive donuts:

On a slick surface with lots of room
Turn off traction control
Turn the steering wheel to the lock, either direction
Put the tranny in reverse
Give it lots of gas to break loose.
Go along for the ride.
Enjoy

Yes I remember that area back then. Guard Rails? There weren't any back then since all the roads in that area were two lane. When the Memorial day flood in 1984, I tried to go and help my parents who lived on the west side of the Ma-Hu mansion and I could not get away from the 71st and Yale area because of the flood waters. I woke up at about 2am to the sound of a fire truvk going by, and turned on the radio to here KMOD saying that boats and jacked up 4X4's were needed in the area of 31st&Mingo to rescue people.

Only in Oklahoma would someone issue a distress call requesting monster trucks.
