Siegi's Sausage Factory is nearing completion on the SW corner of 81st and Sheridan. The front building is a 165 seat restaurant on one side and a market on the other. The manufacturing and warehousing is in the rear building.

The NE corner of 81st & Sheridan, formerly a Texaco, has been prepped for some upcoming construction project.

Mexicali Border (71st & Sheridan)
is closing and will be replaced by Compadre's. The view makes this restaurant space ideal for anyone.

Al's Bistro closed to no-one's surprise but Al.

How long did Al make it?  I noticed it had FAILED a few weeks ago.  I thought some of the reviews on here were pretty good.

I think it's been closed about 6 months. As I recall the restaurant was still open when they sold the digital sign off of the pole which was a predictor of failure.

Sorry the topic title has sort of a connotation to it...couldn't resist:

Townsend

Is that Inteller's neighborhood after the Target was completed?

Red Arrow

I'll look for the elevated RR tracks.

Conan, do you know where that second pic was from?  It looks suspiciously like the view I had from my el trip home in the evenings whilst living in the Second City (specifically, near Lawrence and Broadway in Uptown).  Have any idea?

specifically I don't. I assumed it was the Chicago ell.  It was a Google gamble;)

I'll guess those buildings were pretty nice when new.

If it's where I think it is, it looks nothing like that now.  Gentrification has completely reshaped that area and the empty lots are now condo buildings.

Of course, if it's somewhere on the West or South Side, it probably still looks like that.

There was a recent story on news 2 that a new developer has bought the Cornerstone Creek property on S. Memorial. The bulk of the story is about Lifetime fitness and their hopefulness something gets started soon. The story also states the new developer is keeping a tight lip on the property. Does anyone have any insight?

I believe that pic is from the South Bronx in NYC, along the Metro North commuter rail line.

Looks like Ahmady's Persian rugs will be building their new store at  81st and Sheridan. As glad as I am about something replacing the old gas station, I'm alittle disappointed it's not a deli/coffee shop type place. The view from that spot looking SE is fantastic! A nice little restuarant with a patio would have been perfect.

If I remember right, Ahmady's recently "went out of business" at 71st and Memorial.

Can't say I've ever paid more than $30 for a rug, never realized the market was so amazing.

What in the world is going on with 121st street between Sheridan and Yale? If I lived in one of the neighborhoods along there I would be pissed.
