Since the OKC Thunder represent the State of Oklahoma; it should only be fair that some of the regular season games be played in Tulsa.  If so, how many?

What are your thoughts.

If they really represented Oklahoma, they would have taken David Stern's advice and named them the "Oklahoma" Thunder...

Sorry to rehash that old rant, but it was just asking for based on the way you asked the question.

;D

Oh, and to clarify, I couldn't give a hoot in hell about the Thunder.

Why??

The Thunder was just another "welfare for millionaires" program in OKC, so maybe Tulsa should just send a check to them to help maintain Clay Bennett's cash flow.  Then we might be justified in asking for some games up here.

Attendance is supposed to be huge down there, but then all 13,000 season seats (out of 18,000) are counted as 'filled' for every game.  News clips don't really look like stadium is 98% full (average attendance claim).  Haven't been, so can't tell for sure.

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

Hoss:   I agree with you!  The team should have been named the Oklahoma Thunder!

The whole way they handled the announcement of the team, the name, and using state tax dollars really turned me off. I am sure I will get over it and support the team sooner or later, but for now, I cheer for others.

I have been to about a dozen games in Dallas and four or five other NBA games in other cities over the years, but have yet to travel to OKC for a Thunder game.

Playing some games in Tulsa would probably help convince me to cheer for them.

Having lived in Texas (Fort Worth/Arlington) and with all my roots and relatives from there, I can tell you that Texas' economy loves to have you and your money come to help boost their economy.

Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is a very dynamic area.

They seem to be having no problem filling the seats in OKC.

Now imagine if they did play a few games here in Tulsa.  I'm guessing we would get the game versus a team like the Kings, Pacers, or Nets.  Doubt they would give us a Lakers or Celtics visit.  I really doubt it is even on the table though.  OKC attendance would have to go off a cliff first.  Is there any other team in the entire league that holds any games outside of its main market?

I too was turned off by the snub.  Not that they didn't end up being oklahomas team... but it was like they were trying to exclude the rest of the state.  Particularily when stern counted tulsa as an attendence area, kathy touted the team, and state "jobs" money was used to land them and they all but dismissed anything from the rest of the state.

I'm vaguely interested and may eventually catch a game, but for now I don't care about them and it appears they don't care about me.

I drove a carload to Tulsa's Skelly Stadium on many occasions during the Roughnecks NASL existence.

Saw that win live and not on ESPN against the New York Comos.  I recall ESPN coming to Tulsa on many occasions.

Of course ESPN was in its infancy and would have telecasted a marble match in my backyard if the advertising interest and money was there.

The team favored Tulsa's name of which many viewers thought that Tulsa was in Texas and not Oklahoma.

I,  along with many soccer buffs, drove carload/caravans to then Skelly Stadium to see Oklahoma's first taste of near-major professional sports, and we did the same with the USFL Oklahoma Outlaws.

The Roughnecks favored Tulsa's name; however, they were still Oklahoma's team.

I thought that Tulsa was aggressive toward major professional sports and would eventually get there before OKC; however, times have changed.

What is your deal with bold type?  Mommy didn't give enough attention when growing up?

My only interest is to see Lebron...  Then I will probably never go to a game.

You just wait until they want some of our games played down there.
Its gonna come as quite a "Shock" when we snub them.
Changing opinions one mistake at a time.

Don't go there with me, Hoss (home skillet)!

Leave my mother out of this, she passed away in 1981!

If you have a beef with me then talk to me.  Is the bold print hurting your eyes?

...or, is there something else there?

I've been picking up bits and pieces that you don't like me; I won't disrespect you; so, as I said, "don't go there--leave my mother out of this.

Right on!  Love the confidence you have in Tulsa,  women's basketball and the WNBA!
