Does anyone know how long 51st street is going to be one lane in either direction?  One morning last week, it took me 15 minutes to get from the stop light at the Harvard east bound exit to the stop light at 51st & Harvard.

Might as well pack a lunch or find an alternate route.

Statistically you have a pretty good chance that you will have a different house or job before is no longer effected by traffic. I used to take sheridan but it has been impassible for months and they aren't even working on Sheridan, just 41st so they retimed the lights.

I heard 90% of fatal car wrecks happen within five miles of home.

So I moved.

I can't go anywhere without being mired in construction traffic.  East or west on Harvard.  North or South on Lewis.  North or South on Highway 169.  South on Riverside.  East or west on I44.  It's crazy.

You think it's bad now, wait until they take the S/E corner out...

It's a cluster f#$k between ODOT and COT.

But when it's finished, it better flow like Guido's dude bag when it's being emptied.

Avoid the area! Two years. besides, Harvard between 61st and 51st is too dangerous.

Yes, it's crazy! It's bassackwards Pubic Diswerks Department doing their Peter principled thingy.

By the time it's done, it will be time to redo 41st and Harvard, 31st and Harvard and on and on....hell fire, it's a never ending debacle all over. Only the cemented streets hold out longer than the assfault designs produced by COT.

What year will the curbs be lower than the asphalt streets?

You are forgetting the inevitable re-do like when they had to tear up 61st St. between Hahvahd & Yale a second time because someone effed up.  It's in our water.  Count on it.

it seems like its been time to redo the 41st / Harvard and 31st Harvard intersections for about 15 years now.

They were both re dug, re done, re rippled in the past 7 years....for the 4th times in 20 years....

When will the citizenry tar and feather the incompetent civil servants running our public works?

They can't be fired. So, why not just pay them and ignore them while replacing them with 21st century mindset? Loss leaders?

I have trouble blaming CoT as a people as opposed to CoT policies. Tulsa County does great road work, with concrete, with their own people, at a fraction of the cost. CoT hires only a couple of companies who repeatedly do sub-par work and get rehired for new work and never have to fix their old work.

You forgot "work slow as molasses" as well.  It takes them an entire year to do one section of street.

Certain people who work for CoT prefer to use certain contractors who are not up to snuff.  I blame mis-management within the Public Works Department and protection of those imbeciles from the top down.

*cough* Becco *cough*

They took an entire year to do Utica, then 36th, an entire year to do Lewis from 31st to 41st, now they are going to take an entire year to do 41st from Riverside to Lewis (says so on the "Progress as promised" sign).

Thus far, weeks 1 and 2 of "progress" have involved putting out construction barrels.

I would think that 51st and Lewis and 51st and Harvard are going to be the two worst spots during the project. Those two have always been a nightmare with how close I-44 (The Scarry Bypass Doc Nelson used to call it) parallels 51st. I planning a trip in a few months and may make a road trip out of it, haven't planned on where I'm staying, considering downtown, but It looks like coming into town from the west is a mess with the I-44 project, the 244 river bridge and the IDL. What is the status on the 244 river bridge project?

sgrizzle

I miss Doc Nelson, but that is a bygone era. Used to remember him buzzing turkey mountain to scare "those people" away.
