On one hand, construction is better than the rest of our craptacular roads... on the other hand, yeah.  What give?  71 from joplin to kc was redone and is just done.  Many stretches of road are done.  Will rogers is NEVER done.  I can't think of another 90 mile stretch of road that always has construction.

Plus, I thought the tolls were supposed to go away?  Why are MOST roads to okc toll free and all roads to tulsa tolls?

Turner Turnpike has eternal construction.

Because that is how they try to push growth toward OKC.  Can't get there on the "merits", so there has to be an edge.

They will never go away.  There is over $2 billion in debt, last annual report I saw (Turnpike authority) and that little slush fund is how everyone gets their political patronage done.  Skeptical??  Just try to buy one of their bonds (I think they are double tax exempt - Fed and State).  Reserved for special friends.
