The stadium is pretty fun. Lots of booze being sold. More than I thought they would. I sort of question the viability of the business model in August. Lots of old school Tulsa peeps; very little actual baseball watching as a result. Got a little old.

The actual stadium is beautiful. You prolly want to be on the third base line for the best view of downtown. From the upper level, you can even see Boston Avenue Methodist. It's pretty stunning. The weather was very nice until the end.

Parking wasn't that big of a deal. Of course, we have a parking lot of the street. It's not as easy as the Fairgrounds, but overall, it's better.

They need to have a promo where someone gets free U-haul for life if they hit the U-haul truck on the building across the street. Just sayin'.

I think I saw Bandfan dancing on the screen. Lol.

They are clearly figuring out the kinks. The sound system had Reynolds Center like issues. Tim McGraw tried to address the crowd, but you couldn't hear him for a minute or two. The MC guy was way too freaking loud at times. The home plate ump got pissed at the volume and/or length of the intro music for the first batter. Funny to watch.

They need to get the kids off the dugouts for dancing. Someone will get hurt.

I have seats to this area that is under a cover and it has waitresses. One waitress was very good. They had this weird menu that didn't have everything; I just wanted a regular dog -- I like my nitrates to be pure and not spoiled by the filth of vegetables -- but all they would let us order were Chicago dogs. If you know anything about Gold, you know that Gold hates Chicago in the same plane that he hates Rice, the Voice, Chris Medlock, OSU, phony coneys, and kiss cam. But, that was a tasty dog.

The seats got us access to this bar upstairs that is on a level with boxes with similar to the suites at Chapman. The bar was OK; nice bartenders, but $9 for some average grub (think Oneok area during C-USA tourney). Saw Terry Simonson up there; it's that kind of crowd. (Somebody call the federales.)

This place employs a lot of people. It seemed like there were at least 20 kiosks hawking different types of food that was bad for you.

There are a lot of nooks to the place and I didn't attempt to find them all. There is a margarita type deal with tiki torches and a somewhat private bar on the third base line upstairs; looked like something similar on the first base side. The outfield has the bern seating, a playground, an SRO area, and this sort of tabled seating thing.

They had the TU cheerleaders out for the introduction of the players along with the 66ers cheerleaders and some high school that wears red. (Union?) Nice touch. Saw Bubba and some other athletic department types.

The actual game kind of sucked. I never pay much attention at the Drillers. I'm not sure we have a manager. There was at least one horrid call that didn't go our way and no one came out. We kept the starter in too long and he got shelled. My favorite player, Al Albuquerque, got shelled. (I figured momma named her boy after that dood from A-town, but didn't remember real his name.) Lineup looks weak.

But, who cares? The place is about selling calories. Tasty, tasty calories.

I had a fantastic time, food and beer selections are awsome. The view and environment are incredible. I was right behind the dugout on the 3rd base line, and their was empty seats everywhere from what i saw, sucks seeing as how alot of my friends were dying to go to this game. their fault for sleeping on tickets though i suppose

I havent checked the logistics yet, but it seems as though there is alot less seating than the old field?

The starter only gave up 1 run and 4 hits in 6 innings........Now who was watching the game and who wasn't..... ;D

Looks like all we need now is a good team.  I wonder what the prospects are for bringing AAA baseball to Tulsa?  I'd rather watch games against OKC, Omaha, Sacramento, Albuquerque, Nashville, Portland, etc. than Corpus Christi, Springfield, Midland, etc.

Stadium was great.  Parking seemed to be no problem. I sat a little behind home plate - very close to the Marshall and Choc:)  Place was packed early.  As the weather turned cold, and with the game not going so well, it thinned out later.  I love how you can go to the beer line or grab some food and never miss any of the game.  They are definitely working out some kinks.  The sound was a mess and at times let out a squeal that could be used as a non-lethal weapon in warfare - it was brutal. Also, there are some pretty serious pedestrian issues that are going to need some attention.  As we were walking back down Elgin, we got held up by a train.  There was a sizable crowd of folks waiting. Hardly anyone opted to go a block west and backtrack to the overpass. Then the train stopped, leaving the street crossing open a block east.  As we headed that direction we passed a train engineer who was warning folks to be aware that the train might be backing up yet.  Then I heard him yelling at the top of his lungs.  It looked like (no big surprise here) some folks were cutting between cars at the crossing where we had been waiting.  I sure hope they put someone over there to prevent this situation.  There really needs to be a walkover of some sort.
Vote for the two party system!

I was up in the tiki lounge for the game as well. My regular season tickets are on the first base side just past the dugout, but I wanted to do some talking with the muckity-mucks so we went there for the the first game.

I loved the whole feel of the stadium. Everybody was impresssed and everybody was proud that we had such a place in downtown Tulsa.

I get to throw out the first pitch for game seven. Come and see my blazing change-up.

Imagine that.

What's the average Driller attendance?

Nice park.

More and more like Hicktown everyday.

Po Jenks.

Never pitched a ball before.  Went to Vegas for a trade show about 10 years ago.  At the reception they had a speed cage where us dudes in suits could test our pitching speed.  After several Heinekens it was my turn.  To my amazement I discovered I could throw a 67mph speed ball.  Faster than any of the other guys!!

I also learned that my shoulder comes out.  Kinda makes you want to poop yourself.

Do you purposely denigrate things because you are miserable, or are you miserable because you have no friends?

Won't matter RM, he'll be gone before too long anyway.  Whether it's someone hacking into his account or whatever the next meltdown might be.

According to Facebook, you have a zillion friends.

Way to go. I swear you were in the Facebook South Park episode last night while you drank beer, scouted the skirts and ate away. Find yourself: http://www.southparkstudios.com/episodes/

RM, it's not the quantity but the quality. Just fyi.

Play ball.

They need either an underpass or overpass like at Cincinnati, Detroit, etc. for Elgin.  There are too many trains that come through there.

And I thought to myself how cool it would be to have new loft apartments built on the south and west sides of the stadium, with some street level restaurant/retail space.  Nothing too tall to block the skyline, maybe 3-4 stories max.  That and better connections through the streetscaping to OSU and Blue Dome.
