TURobY

DolfanBob brought up an interesting idea about discussing the meaning of usernames. Some of them are based on the actual user's name; others are based on interests. So, I'm curious to know: what does your username mean?

TURobY - When I joined this site, I was still a student at TU. My first name is Robert, and my last name is Young. Sometimes, people misread my handle as "Turbo". :P

Townsend

Mine's my last name.  Nothing exciting for me.  I jabber if I try to be creative.

DolfanBob

Thanks for starting this thread.
As I said. I am a huge Miami Dolphins fan and have been DolfanBob for years.
Changing opinions one mistake at a time.

RecycleMichael

I was giving a speech at a school twenty plus years ago about recycling. A little girl in the audience asked me if my mother named me Michael to rhyme with recycle. A newspaper reporter wrote it and I have been called it ever since.
Power is nothing till you use it.

Hoss

Never much on nicknames, but about 15 years ago a friend of mine starting calling me Hoss.  It stuck with a lot of people and became my moniker on many other forums.  Hoss though tends to be pretty popular, especially in the south, so I had to register with a forum relatively early in order to get it.

And no, it doesn't mean I'm big as Hoss from "Bonanza".

I'm close, though.   ;D

Conan71

Need I say more?

Actually mine came from auto racing.  My chassis repair guy started calling me "Conan The Destroyer" or someone at his shop did.  71 was the number I usually had on my race cars, so there's my handle.  Due to common friends from multiple walks of life, the nickname carried over into motorcycle riding and other areas as well.  That was 26 years ago.  Half the people I know call me Conan the others call me by my real name, even my mother calls me Conan from time to time.

I spent some time in deep Looooosiana and fell in love with the people. Later, I operated airboats just like Adam Sandlers mom in Waterboy. It was a gesture towards my love of boating.

Because I'm a geek.  Seriously.  I'm an old gamer, and with MMORPG's I wanted something that stuck out and was different.  I went with latin, and Guardian of the Night.  I know, corny, but I have found that it is always available when I need to make a username so I keep using it, though lately I've gotten lazy and started using Custos on more things.

bokworker

Pretty obvious on mine....got me in some trouble back when Friendly Bear was pooping in these woods.

godboko71

My nick dates back to 1997/1998 from Final Fantasy Tactics add a little complex and a random number and you get my nick. Back when I started using the nick boko or boco was popular so I had to add numbers. Sometimes that wasn't enough and at the time I thought of myself as a real hard core gamer hence the handle. I still use it today because I am lazy, and its a brand in its own right.
Thank you,

Glad to see I wasn't the only one to bring my gaming name into here lol

Conan71

Godboko71, I'd wondered how you came up with yours.  I'd love to know where Michael71 came up with his "71".  I doubt there's many other forums on the interwebs with three members who have 71 as the last two digits of their handle.  The reason #71 became my favored number in the first place was a racing hero of mine.  I think Breadburner might still remember who that was.

It was either godboko71, boko, boko71, something lame like Game Master (had friends back in the day call me that hated it,) or rtown oh I am so creative :P

Though I am known by godboko71 the best so I try to use it everywhere.
Thank you,
