Try living in uptown Houston (around the Galleria).  That's tame compared to there.  I once counted 14 traffic signals within a mile stretch of road.  Now, while many people would say 'meh', I'm talking about Westheimer Rd, which is the only arterial street I've ever seen to be eight lanes.

Just one of the reasons I don't live in a place like Houston, Dallas, NYC, LA,.....

Sometimes work takes you places you don't like to live, but need to move so you can make money.  I liked my little part of the world of it once I moved out of the Galleria area.  It felt a little more like Broken Arrow (towards Spring for those familiar with the area).

Yikes!  Looks like we need some stoplights between 91st and 81st.  (don't see your problem there)
Is there any arterial street in the Tulsa area where there's not a stop light or sign every mile?

between 81st & 91st:  0 lights
between 91st & 101st:  5 lights
between 101st & 111th:  2 lights

Lewis:  11th - 21st:   3 lights
41st:  Yale - Sheridan:   4 lights?

what are some other high-light miles?

I only listed the lights (or lack of) farther north than 91st since Guido claimed from 111th to 81st.  Please,no more lights.

I'm in Tulsa because my dad accepted a transfer while I was in college.  He almost didn't accept but a potential business deal didn't work out.  After college and the Navy, I came "back" to Tulsa and stayed.  I would have been desperate to look for work in the really big cities but I cannot say I NEVER would have gone.  So far I have been fortunate to find another job in the area when I needed one.

I was young and actually happy that I got the chance to live somewhere else than here.  Made me appreciate home that much more.

Yale, 41st to 51st: 5 lights.  61st to 71st there are, I think now four lights.  All told from 31st to 71st there's, I thnk, 12 of them and if you are really lucky you will hit every damn one of them.  It's red light Hell.

I had a similar experience with KC when I was 21.

I was 23 when I moved from here to Houston.  Moved back about six months after the divorce in Dec of 1993 when I was 26.  I had enough money to take about a 6 week break from looking for work.  Starting looking in Feb of 1994 (first week) and had a job within 2 days.  The economy was a *little* better back then.

Oh, and KC is a town I would move to.  I know enough friends there and have been there enough to like it there.  Houston wasn't bad once I moved out of the city center but the drive to work was no fun (one way was 23 miles and it wasn't an easy 23 miles for sure).

I'm also counting the lights at 41st & 51st as well.  I forgot about the light at AMC north of 41st  when I was counting 31st to 71st total lights.

Regardless, it sucks if you get stuck in red light hell.  Hit one from 71st north, chances are you will catch them all.  Seems they could better engineer the lights so there is less a chance of that happening.  All the idling and accellerating doesn't help with emissions.
