Mmm. . .  Tasty Fluoride.

Tap water is the main drink consumed in my home. Other than beer, we just have some pitchers of tap water, maybe a little orange juice in our fridge. Bottled water is a giant ripoff. I only consume it when I'm traveling or at a sporting event.

I've always wondered how much of an affect flouride has. I drink tons of tap water, probably more than the recommended amount, I don't go to the dentist as often nor brush as often as I should, but I've had no cavities or dental issues. It's either the flouride or I have cavity-resistant teeth.

The very best municipal water I've had was in Stoneboro, Pennsylvania.  It's the top of the watershed, so the town gets its water from a spring.  In the winter, it's so cold you can't put your hand under the tap unless you add some hot water too.  Dunno about the bacteria or chlorination, but the water is definitely not fluoridated.

But I believe in drinking from the local tap water supply, if only to see that my body is adapted to the flora and fauna found in it.  This really is important, because a bicyclist relies on whatever water source he can find, so it's doubly important to see that 'intestinal distress' (a euphemism peculiar to bike racing) doesn't kick in when you're out in the middle of nowhere.

May you live in interesting times.

bot, I just put  Pur filter on my sink just to cut the chlorine smell were I live. I have quit buying bottled water unless I want some while I'm out and about or taking a trip to California or the lake, or a day hike. And even for the day hike I start increasing my water intake at least a day in advance.

Not drinking carbonated sugar water helps more than just about anything. Well, that and being a good saliva producer. Saliva helps neutralize the pH level in your mouth, in addition to helping wash away residual sugar or whatever.

Jeesh whats the point in drinking "filtered" water when you probably get a thousand times as much stuff as you would find in tap water or that is getting filtered out of the water, when you eat things?  The stuff thats on food or in food, that makes up the food, etc.  Think of all the minerals and chemicals that are in food, what happens when you grill food, slather dressings and sauces all over your food.  Imagine whats probably still on even cleaned salads, fruit, and vegetables, whats in your cereals, breads, etc. etc.  All kinds of little bugs and critters and dirt particles. Did you know what your cheese looks like under a microscope? The little mites and other critters that live on it?  And your worried about microscopic trace minerals and organics in the water?  What do you think food consists of and what do you think the stuff thats in your water is?  Other than the fact that your bottled water may have more plastic chemicals leached into it from the bottle. Course if you microwave something like a microwave dinner or snack in a plastic container, thats a good way to get some of those chemicals in your food as well.

I drink tap water, its perfectly fine.

I heard the best way to go is using filterd city tap water you have the best of both worlds then- I drink city tap water when I drink water, I normally drink tons of soft drinks of any flavor, sometimes ice cold juice or lemonaid bought from the store already in the jug. I'm not much of a water drinker, after I do a hard jogging run on a hot day I turn to ice cold soft drinks, guess it's not the best thing to drink but I have doing that for years.
