Need info on high quality rental apartments south of 91st for my very liberal/democrat mother (just throwing that out so Nate, we, rw will weigh in). Any thoughts would be appreciated.

There is a nice complex on 81st and Yale on the hill.  Reasonable and awesome views. 
101st and Sheridan has a nice complex too.

She will need to remove the Obama bumper sticker to avoid the finger though.

Memorial Creek is OK, although in my later years there the office staff got less and less helpful. Rent isn't cheap there, but it is gated, has a pool and exercise room, and is well maintained. The couple of times I had maintenance issues they had someone out in under an hour. Parking was sometimes an issue for me, but it just depends on where in the complex you are. Garages are available, however, as well as 3br units with an attached garage. Some also have fireplaces, but they're all on upper floors, of course.

Otherwise, in Tulsa you're looking at the place at 101st & Sheridan or Yale (I forget which), the complex on Riverside at the Creek, and the relatively aged place on 91st between Memorial and Sheridan, which we looked at once and didn't like very much. The two bedroom unit we looked at there had a teensy kitchen and just seemed small. I think the rent was $25-$50/mo cheaper than Memorial Creek. Not worth the downgrade, IMO.

In Bixby, the Links is an option. I never looked at it because the Lindsey properties are all the same and I hate how they're designed. Good if you're a golfer, I suppose.

In Bixby, the Links is an option. I never looked at it because the Lindsey properties are all the same and I hate how they're designed. Good if you're a golfer, I suppose.

Links has turned into a dump.  Used to be nice.

We maintain a corporate apt. at "The Mansions" at 98th(ish) and Riverside.

Seems well maintained and clean.   Rents are a little high for what you get, but it is gated, has trash pickup, all the things you would expect for the money.

If I was looking for an apt in south Tulsa this is where I would live for the views alone.

While I'm not planning on moving immediately, I am gathering ideas now (be prepared, you know).  Ideally I'd like to rent a house, but in my preliminary searches it looks like it might be difficult to find a house in my price range, in a safe neighborhood that will allow pets.  (My cat goes with me.)  So, I'm also going to look at apartments/townhouses/condos as a "Plan B."

There are three complexes that I'm considering, and their pros/cons:

Barcelona
Pros:  Most convenient location to downtown.  Washer/dryer in units.  Covered parking.
Cons:  In reading reviews, there have been complaints about maintenance.  Also one person complained about difficulty finding parking at times.  Looking at floor plans, kitchen seems rather small.  Most expensive of the three.  No townhouses, so I would have a neighbor above or below me.

Monaco Park
Pros:  Most affordable.  Most spacious.  Kitchen appears to be the largest of the three.  Looks like there's a spacious patio off the dining room.  Spacious walk-in closets.
Cons:  Although this is a gated complex, there are some other apartment complexes nearby that have had some "issues."  No covered parking.  Some reviews have referenced exorbitant utility bills/drafts in the wintertime.  Some reviews have also indicated the management company is inconsistent in enforcing standards regarding who they will lease to, and there have been some "questionable" tenants.

Vista Shadow Mountain(FKA The Falls and The Reserve at Shadow Mountain)
Pros:  Beautiful views.  Washer/dryer hookups (at least in the floor plan I'm considering).  Recently renovated.  Covered parking.
Cons:  Furthest away from downtown Tulsa (where I work).  There could be traffic hassles.  There were many complaints about management, although they are under new management (unable to find any comments on the current management).   The pictures all feature young adults (I'm in my 50s)-would this be a "party" complex?

Of course, I plan to visit each complex in person-but I would appreciate any comments, pro or con, you might have on any of these complexes.  Also, are there any other complexes I should consider?  Any condos/duplexes I should check out?

Check for fire safety.  I believe at one time the Falls (or whatever they are known as now) had a fire which jumped sideways because of some deficiency in the firewall in the "attic" area.  I don't have any specifics, I just remember it as something that happened.

You know she will never have any peace in this state.  I know of a place in Corvallis, OR and one in Portland where she would be welcomed with open arms and would fit in, find friends, and never have to watch over her shoulder for right wing extremists ever.

Is she new to the area?  Tell her there is an underground movement to take back Oklacoma from the radical usurpers, so don't give up hope!

It is small, but determined - and here is where I get to use something that didn't really fit elsewhere - rust never sleeps!!

M2, a friend lived at Barcelona for about 1 1/2 years.  No real maintenance problems (you will hear complaints at any complex that is 30 + years old, no crime issues, not aware that parking was ever an issue.  It seems pretty well managed.  She only moved because she bought a house.  It always seemed secure and the management frowned upon broken down cars in the parking lot.  Kitchens are a bit to the small side as you observed.
