I saw Dewey Bartletts remarks in the Tulsa World and I want to assure anyone interested that none of the remarks following the story were authored by me. Some were quite silly and show a total misunderstanding of nature, rivers, biology etc. Some showed the hatred those posters feed on and depend on. And a few were informed and courteous, but Geez that is a depressing task to read those comments!

What about transporters to be used as mass transit?

When this mayor, or any mayor, or any alleged leader of river development, says, "hey, Steve, lets go float the river and give me some input from your perspective", that will be the true leader of river development. I've never had any of them respond to my efforts for a face to face, or river to face conversation. I think its just de riguer to have a quote like his on record (in case something good happens they can lay claim). LaFortune and Miller actually had photo's taken of them IN the river.

In Dewey's defense, I haven't contacted him.

On the other hand....

One of the comments on the story referred to the danger of Di Hydrogen Oxide levels that were often dangerously high in the river.

Hell, I had some Di Hydrogen Oxide with whiskey and ice this evening. I feel fine. In fact, I try to consume as much each day as I can of the stuff since my body seems to crave it.

Whiskey or Dihydrogen oxide?

waterboy

Can't afford both on a regular basis so I obsess with the DHO. Tulsa has some fine Dihydrogen Oxide.

It just didn't look like any toxic chemical i had see before so I Wiki'd it. I wasn't aware of the hoax till then. Funny stuff.

Dihydrogen Oxide....aka....Dihydrogen Monoxide

Still good stuff.

Yeah, I left out the most deadly sounding prefix, "mono'. Am I the last one on the planet to know about this tricky spin?
