Interesting, I shared this rumor with others at the TNF lunch today and got this email from Elliot Nelson this afternoon in his newsletter:

"Brady Tavern
Yay, another project!

You might have heard the rumors about us taking over the old Bowery location at the corner of Main and Brady.  About a month and a half ago the landlord of that property contacted us - yes, he contacted us - and told us the space was coming available and asked if we wanted it.  After giving it some thought, we said YES!

When I started looking for McNellie's locations 9 years ago, the Brady District was the first place I looked.  Caz's was my regular bar, the Bowery was cranking and it was the place to be.  The neighborhood has always piqued my interest, and after several attempts of building something there, we've finally found the right opportunity.

We're going to call the new place the Brady Tavern.  It's going to feature high end, rustic pub cuisine utilizing local and seasonal ingredients.  We've already hired a great executive chef and the food should be phenomenal. And of course, true to the tavern name, we're going to feature a large selection of spirits.  We will have a good selection of craft beers, wines and whiskeys.  We are working on bringing in some new products - Hudson Whiskey and Fee Brothers Bitters - in order to cultivate a world class cocktail experience.   We plan on staying up late, serving food late and creating a mainstay in the Brady Arts District.  More details to come later, but we should be up and going in a couple of months.

I'd heard something about this but like you, it was more rumor.

There you go.

I look forward to it.

Great news. Should be another fantastic venture from Elliot.

Anyone know if Brady Tavern is open yet?  Thanks.

Called to see if they were open and no answer.  Is there a delay?

went by to have lunch, they aren't opening today until 4 pm.  After today, they will open at 11 am

Finally tried Fat Guys Burgers . . . . it was good, just won't be on the new year's diet.  Also, no one has mentioned Le Mombo (sp), southeast of Caz's.  I had lunch there a few weeks ago, bad service, slow service and our food was burned.  Has potential though, will try again in hopes that our experience was unusual.

"Hey Mambo!" ?

I thought the food was adequate, not overly memorable.  I believe the owner is the son-in-law of the former Lola's proprietor.

Thanks Conan, I had a feeling I butchered the name.  It's so cloudy and dreary I couldn't read it off the side of the building from my office.  :)

A quick heads up.  The food is excellent.  The burger and risotto is good stuff.  The Mac & cheese is dusted with crack.  Good bar service.

Is there a menu to be found online?

I doubt it.  They barely had them printed last night.
