I was just there last week and had no idea that it was in trouble.

I ate at that place three different times.  All three times the food was bland and really below average. I can see why it closed.

the place was a dump.  they took a ground lease early thinking Target would locate there but never did so they got stuck out in the middle of no where without an anchor store to bring in the suckers.

I never ate at the one in Bixby, but I have been to the Santa Fe Cattle Company in Glenpool. I have a meeting with different community leaders all south of me af we figured out that this Glenpool restaurant was about the same drive for all of us and now eat there every two months.

The lunch menu is affordable and the service is good. I usually order hamburgers or the lunch steak sandwich and they are always good. I realize that it ain't five star, but it fits our needs and everybody at our table likes going there.

I agree, the place would have been a lot better if Target had located at 121st and Memorial.  The Glenpool and Broken Arrow locations do great business.  The one in Broken Arrow has seen a dramatic increase in sales with the opening of the Cinemark 12.  I would guess the Bixby and Glenpool locations were too close together.

wow, if you think the food was decent I hear there is a sale on Alpo at Wal-Mart...and it is no doubt less salty.  no telling what people's blood pressure was after they left SFCC but I'd say they kept UrgentCare right up the street busy.

bottom line, this was a shithole of a place that needed anchor stores to bring in suckers instead of being good on the merits of the food/atmosphere alone.  If you look at their other locations they are ALWAYS near a bigger attraction...one of those "parasite" restaurants Target refers to.

My favorite inteller attack on a restaurant was last year on a thread about a sushi place. He said. "i think he should either close the 71st st location, or fire most of the hip hop thugs and sluts on the wait staff.  From the Lolita hostesses up front to the gangbanger wannabes in the back, that place needs an attitude adjustment."

And this year he had an opinion of a Mexican restaurant on 71st..."I recommend some diets for the wait staff....lost my appetite."

He must be a joy to serve.

That is the best quote ever.  Reminds me of the dad on the show Frasier. I can also think of a few angry Will Ferrill characters from Saturday Night Live that would go perfect with this quote.

I've never been to this Santa Fe place, so I can't attest to its quality, but hasn't this restaurant theme been overdone?  It seems like there must be a dozen Outback Steakhouse-inspired restaurants that for the most part, are not as good as Outback, which is still mediocre (although very consistent in my experience).  Personally, I'm very picky when it comes to steak, so I'm not going to shell out 20 bucks for a mediocre-at-best steak in an overly noisy place that focuses more attention on its heavily deep-fried appetizer concoctions than on steak in the first place. (I've seen that damn Outback Bloomin Onion thing bastardrized a hundred different ways).

I'd rather go to someplace more original.  And that doesn't have to mean high-brow, white table cloths, and wine lists with multiple chapters.  Personally, I like places like Silver Flame and Eddy's, both Lebanese places (although I'm told Silver Flame is actually Syrian).  Every time I've been to either of these places, I've spent about the same as Outback-style joints, and come away with exceptional service, perfectly cooked-to-order marinated steak, gourmet side dishes and hors d'oeuvres, and a unique atmosphere.  Plus, those places often give me a sense that I'm in some mafia-family establishment (not Italian obviously) because they are family-owned and the waiters dress a little old-school ganster-ish.  Sue me, but I find that cool.
