Angle Files Complaint For Voter Intimidation By Reid

Sharon Angle's camp sure seems to think Harry Reid's campaign has stepped over a legal line:

In most Election Day disputes, it's usually Democrats alleging voter intimidation by Republicans. But in the closely fought Nevada Senate race, the sides are reversed.

Republican Sharron Angle's campaign has filed a complaint with the Justice Department, charging that the campaign of her opponent, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, illegally schemed with casino executives to pressure union casino employees to vote, reports Politico. Reid's camp says it's done nothing wrong.

The complaint is based on emails that were posted this morning on the website of National Review, a conservative opinion magazine. In the emails, Reid staffers told the executives they'd provide money and buses to get workers who hadn't yet voted to the polls.  In one email, a staffer for Reid told Harrah's execs to "put a headlock" on union supervisors to ensure that workers got out to vote.

In another email, a Reid staffer told Harrah's lobbyist Jan Jones -- a former Democratic mayor of Las Vegas: "We connected with Culinary and the problem seems to be with the mid-level supervisors. They simply are not cooperating and listening to upper management."

The complaint was filed on behalf of Angle, a tea party favorite, by Cleta Mitchell, a Republican election lawyer with a reputation for hard-nosed tactics. Last week, Mitchell wrote: "Harry Reid intends to steal this election if he can't win it outright."

Brilliant comment section, and these people aren't Tea Baggers:

This is the only way she can win? The same way George Bush did in 2000? Sue your way in, that's the American way alright.

"You can expect Obama with that "long legged Mac Daddy" grin will be the chief crook!"

Saw these temper-tantrums coming from a mile away. Tbaggers are a joke. No shame whatsoever.

Sharon, let sleeping dogs lie and drink yourself to sleep...loser.....

How is pressuring employees to vote illegal? MTV should go to jail for telling people to vote. That's clearly illegal. lol

And the best of all, really classy libs:

I hope her assanination is in broad daylight and on live television.

I like how it's become the new normal to claim that the election was stolen when "your" side loses. In the Bush 2000 case, there was at least some basis for that thought, but since then I haven't seen foundation for any such accusation by either side.

At least it was resolved in the courts and not with weapons on the street.

More than some.

And yeah, ain't it great to have an inside track with the most powerful court in the world?

Huh,... if something does come of it, it would seem that maybe Reid's people had taken Karl Rove lessons!

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

On that, we agree. Although the kids the Republicans flew in to Broward County to disrupt the counting did a pretty good job of acting like they might get violent.

There's a link to an edited series of emails over in another thread.  I read the list this morning, and decided that it lacked context.  Sure, there are quotes like this: "We connected with Culinary and the problem seems to be with the mid-level supervisors. They simply are not cooperating and listening to upper management." But what does that mean?

My own contract stipulates that workers will be permitted to vote even if they have to leave work to do that.  It's unpaid time.  Now, in the case of SEIU, they may have a similar provision and they're trying to make their members aware of it.  Managers, of course, do not want to lose part of their workforce during the day, so they may not be fully motivated to inform the employees of that provision.

Any of you who work for a large company have probably encountered the 'trickle down' scenario.  Upper management hatches a plan that will be the best thing since the invention of the wheel.  Middle management has to implement the plan, and it mutates slightly.  By the time it reaches the front line workers, it's a choice between getting t-shirts or new hats with a zippy slogan.

Finally, until we know more about this, it's impossible to reach a reasoned conclusion.  The emails are like a Rorschach test - you see what you want to see in them.

May you live in interesting times.

I've heard anecdotes - and they must ALL be taken with a grain of salt, since that is what urban myth is all about - that said a couple of local small company owners in Tulsa actually fired a couple of people who had Obama bumper stickers on their car.  (This has had national movement, too.  Friend in Texas told me a friend of his with a company did that to several of the people in his company.)

If something like that could be proven, the small business owner would likely be bankrupt and no longer in business.  That's the problem though, proving it.

That's why I try not to talk politics at work, and NEVER adorn my car with anyone's bumpersticker.  Not only does it devalue the car, it's just asking for vandalism.

Not in Oklahoma.  Or Texas.  This is the town where John Pickle was able to keep slaves for a couple of years and avoid any real consequences.  Ok, they were fined a little over a million dollars, but given the fact that a skilled welder should easily make $15 an hour, he received over $ 3.1 million in labor from the men held as slaves.  Good trade for him, huh?  And whatever happened to Ray Murzello - Pickles good ole' boy buddy??  Still running around Tulsa?

And the Tulsa County Sheriff's Department helped him "guard" several of these guys who complained while taking them to the airport to put them on a plane back to India.

And he still hasn't paid the million.

And no prison time for anyone involved.

But hey, that would be too much like "unwarranted government intrusion" into business operations.
