Looks like the Lortons have completely cashed out now.

This sucks big time!  I know nothing about the Houston bank, but have been with F & M since the early-mid 70's.  Only reasonable bank left in Tulsa - for decades.  All the rest have become "Harvard School of Raping and Pillaging Business".  Thank goodness my credit union now has business accounts.

Obviously you don't know anything about the 10-15 solid community banks that are Tulsa/Northeast Oklahoma based.  I think you'll find quality bankers at many of the local banks around town.

I lived across the street from their mothership about 25 years ago and again a few years back.  Their fees and refusal to issue ATM cards right away on personal accounts sucked.  The convenience factor of literally being out my front door would have been great if they didn't have an absurd fee structure.  I never did business with them.

I've been with IBC, yet another Texas institution which bought up a local bank...literally.  I was a Local Oklahoma Bank customer when it was acquired and I was worried the merger would ruin the banking experience.  To my surprise, it actually improved.

Still with BOA, even though I loathe what they've become.  I started with them as Bank IV in 1994 after I moved back from Texas.  There I used FIB (First Interstate), which I guess was finally gobbled up by WellsFargo.

The only reason I stay with BOA is because their online BillPay is simply not beatable by any other bank.  And believe me, I've looked all over.  The closest I've found is Arvest, and they're still not on par.

I like Arvest because of their longer hours.  It's their "killer app"  I sooooo love the convenience of being able to go to the bank AFTER work and not be forced to arrange to do it during work.  Takes the edge off of them being related to WM lol.  However, there are other banks, even Bank Of Oklahoma, I would switch to IF they had reasonable hours.

Had a personal account with State that morphed into Arvest for a few years.  Love the hours and they were everywhere which was good.

Now I just use the credit union mostly and Credit Union Service Center, Inc.  Covers 99% of what I need, both at home and out of town nationwide.  Cannot apply for a loan at their office, but if in Oregon on vacation, I guess I shouldn't be worried about that anyway....

My next choice would likely be RCB bank...they seem to be pretty good, and I have a friend working there for quite a few years who says good things about them.  Anyone else had experience with them?

I never use an ATM - don't even have a card.  Have been doing hardcore electronics design long enough to not trust it for important stuff!!

(Notice the dichotomy of not trusting an ATM, but getting into an electronically controlled car every day of the world...and then driving it!!)

Not having an ATM card won't keep you safe. It will prevent you from putting it in a skimmer, though, so I guess that's something.

My very first bank was with them back in the mid/late 80s.  I liked them as well.

I don't have an ATM card.  I do not expect to get robbed at an ATM.

That is not the reason I don't have an ATM card though.

Prosperity bought 1.2 billion dollar Coppermark Bank based in OKC (am announced Dec 12) closed April 13.  Coppermark was locally owned and operated since 63.   Great bank.  Prosperity slaughtered it and I expect the same with F&M.  Lots of lay offs.  Very sad.  Prosperity was Forbes #1 bank in 2011.  I would buy there stock.  They are 14 billion in assets and over 200 locations in Texas.  They have made over 20 acquisitions the last 3 years.  Good people, but out of state banks have done well in Oklahoma except Chase.
