....and buy a mattress when your done!  You see, down at Cell Phone Corner, we're not like that other "riff raff" up and down Memorial.  We are a generic everyplace classy, upscale joint where you can take care of all your basic needs, like buying a phone from every major carrier within 50 feet.  Come admire our faux stacked stone and Dryvit architecture as you get you nails done in our chinsy classy store fronts with chicken wire railing modern landscaping.  As a matter of fact we have had our landscape plan amended to oblivion, you will have no problems seeing us from memorial through the trees bushes.

The reason I ask is that this place sound like something you see here in the cities around Phoenix and in some places, you see themevery mile to two miles no matter where you drive. The exception being that as Albertsons and local grocer Basha's closed some of their locations and with the over building of centers like this and the down turn, a lot of them are nearly empty to completely vacant escept for a fast food pad sight and a c-store. From a lot of the subjects I have seen on here over the last few years south Tulsa sounds like a lot of places here with the exception of grass. I will try ang get some pics of what I'm refering to in the next few days.. I know that there is another thread refering to landscaping on lots like Home Depot and other big box stores, why is it they can't keep the trees alive? It's done here and they seem to thrive. Just curious.

Whoever created that mess at that intersection should be ashamed.

the person who created that has no shame...or soul for that matter.

but I was thinking it might be funny to sit outside and film all the turds who will inevitably start on one end and go "well if you aren't going to give me that deal, I'm just going to go next door!....then in a few minutes "....well I'm just going to go next door!"....ad nauseum.

but you have to wonder if all the tenants maybe feel a little duped....you wonder if they knew what would be next door to them.  Knowing the underhanded tricks of the landlord, it would not surprise me if this was all done cloak and dagger.  I was not joking when I told all those asking that whatever would be there you can guarantee we already have 3 of them within a 3 mile radius....but this exceeded even my expectations...to the point of comical absurdity.  the running joke around here is that ATT sub-let its bathrooms to T-Mobile.  If Cricket or US Cellular occupy the one still being built, this landlord will be the laughing stock of the town (as if he's not already).

another corner in tulsa squandered by redundant dreck...riff raff even.

Didn't I hear somewhere that Troy Aikman owns that new center in front of SuperTarget?

Direct Developments is a real estate cabal of which Troy aikman is a partner.  They were the middlemen who ramrodded the deal down between Target and 1995 land co (aka Assholes inc).  After target was built the land under it was actually sold off to target, so target real estate trust owns the land under target now.  However, it is my impression that Direct Developments is still the middleman for lining up the tenants of Cell Phone Corner as no one with any level of dignity would deal directly with the landlord they'll be paying rent to.  They do not own it however...they may have been subcontracted to build it.  You will also notice how all but one of the tenants are national chains, because they were able to obsfucate those chain's knowledge of the local market so they could foist them all in there.  Any local buisness worth their salt would know it would be suicide to locate in an area now so highly concentrated and developed.  Regal Plaza and surrounding developments already took most of the tenants that could have located there.

I guess I don't understand why you are so upset that there are a few similar businesses clumped together. I guess if you don't do business with them you hate them and their customers being near you.

Get over it. There are many areas with multiple banks, fast food restaurants, etc. clustered together. There are even competing gas stations directly across the street from each other.

You have whined about the big stores like Target, you have whined about the little stores like cell phone and nail shops. I am beginning to think that you just whine about everything.

You think government should interfere with regular commerce? You really think there should be ordinances prohibiting cell phone and nail shops from operating in the same shopping center? What kind of control freak are you?

I have some advice. Get over it. No one is forcing you to do business with them or even to look at them while you drive by.

I like the opportunity to comparison shop and the competition will probably help lower prices for customers.

inteller better not ever go to the Dominican Republic. He'll blow a gasket when folks run up to him at the stoplights trying to sell him prepaid recharge cards from competing phone companies, or if he goes to one of the upscale malls in Santo Domingo and sees an Orange shop right next to a Claro shop. Or even worse, if he ventures into some parts of town where there are people selling both Orange and Claro in the same store.

He must really hate Best Buy's cell phone area.

yes, and it is that way in most THIRD WORLD countries.

we're better than that.

and actually, a Best Buy Mobile store would have been a better alternative, still not great but better than currently, then you'd have 3 fronts available for a more diverse tenant mix....but slumlords are more interested in putting "butts in the seats" as it were....maybe we are less removed from third world countries than I think.
