I bet it will be great, I'm actually going to Lori Morgan . . .

We went last year, we had great seats, while I love their music the show sort of was dragging on at one point, we are skipping this year.

We're bringing 3 bottles of wine so that should take care of the boredom if their is any.  ;D

Wow! That was total crap!  We left after an hour.

Wow Gaspar. No kidding, really. I had actualy thought about going to that.
Please elaborate what happened. Leaving after a hour into it with three bottles of wine say's a lot.
Changing opinions one mistake at a time.

We had the box, so we got to leave the wine in the wine cooler in the box.  The performance was a very bad version of 80's hair music with story telling between each song.  The story was told in the same fashion that my 5 year old tells stories. . ."and then" . . ."and then". . ."and then". . .

The light show and pyrotechnics were the only interesting part of the performance.  It was so bad that the group we were with began making trips to the bar, bathroom, lobby to text how bad it was or post the hilarity on FB.

I finally stood up and said "anyone want to leave," and without a word everyone grabbed their jackets and headed for the elevator.  We laughed all the way to the car.  My neck is actually sore from watching the performers whip their 80's hair through the air.

Bad Prog Rock band plays overdone Christmas music, I'm surprised you lasted that long.

Judging from their actual accents, they are from Alabama.

Remember the vampire pupet show at the end of Forgetting Sarah Marshall?

It was bad like that.

Did you buy tickets without knowing anything about the band?  I mean seriously, your upset because of the cheesy heavy metal christmas music and the poetry?  That's what TSO is!  Have you not bought one of their albums before?  It's just as much theater as it is music.  It has been characterized as "rock opera."  The cheesiness is part of the act.

I have no problem if you don't like TSO.  I like it and even I'll admit its pretty cheesy for the most part and I fully understand when people say they don't like it.  But you should know that going in.  It would be like taking a vacation to Phoenix in the summer and complaining that it's hot.

Nahh! the tickets were free.  I've heard some of their stuff before, but never actually seen them.  Someone told me it was a good lights show so we decided to go instead of giving the tickets away.  We had a whole VIP box to ourselves (4 of us), and that would have been great if we could have turned the band off. :D  It was beyond Cheesey!

BTW, I just got IM'd by one of the bartenders at the BOK that I used to work with.  We saw her as we were leaving, she just told me that about a quarter of the crowd left before the show was over.

I saw them here in Phoenix in '07 and new what is going to be like going in.I thought the show was pretty good. The second half of the show was admittedly better than the Christmas Story portion, and the same happened here, after the Christmas Story, almost half the audience left.

BKDotCom

Sounds like reviews from the last few times they've been here:
Everyone leaves after the first half
Second half is better.

It's a long show, close to 3 hours.  I think alot of the families leave after the first half because the first half is more family oriented as far as the poetry and the christmas story goes, and by that time it is pretty late.  The second half is pretty much all rock and light show.  The leaving has very little to do with people not liking the show.  If that were true, the show would sell fewer and fewer tickets every year.  Instead, they have sole more.  I read that yesterday was a sell-out crowd.
