Yet one more heart-warming story of brilliant Oklahomans, give that teacher a raise:

OKLAHOMA CITY - Perhaps parents need to check supply lists and backpacks before sending their students back to school after winter break.

A 13-year-old was arrested Friday in Oklahoma City, accused of violating a little-known city ordinance that prohibits possession of a permanent marker in some circumstances.

The teen was caught using a permanent marker at Roosevelt Middle School by a teacher, according to the crime report filed with the Oklahoma City Police Department.

Delynn Woodside noted the marker had bled through a piece of paper onto the desk and reported to a police officer that she also had seen the teen writing on the desk with the marker, the report said.

Even if the teacher hadnt used discretion, you would have thought at least one of the cops would have, and the kid would have gone to detention instead of booking.  I see some retirements in the cards.

"Under City Ordinance 35-202, it is illegal for any person to possess spray paint or a permanent marker on private property without the permission of the property owner.

"No person may possess an aerosol spray paint container or broad-tipped indelible marker on any private property unless the owner, agent, manager, or other person having control of the property consented to the presence of the aerosol spray paint container or broad-tipped indelible marker," the ordinance reads.

The law appears to be directed at curbing graffiti and is under the nuisance chapter of city ordinance."

I saw this on a friends FB comment yesterday, and all I could think of was "Check your pockets before you leave to make sure you don't have a magic marker, but do remember your gun, ammo, and CCW permit when you leave home."

Two Cucuys and some McSorley's in the fridge.

I have a Big Jamoke in the fridge but drank the Cucuys last weekend.

What did you think of those?  Great stuff.  I can't bring myself to turn some of that into bread.

So is Carver Middle School a private school?  Or do public schools now count as private property now?

I'm going to guess that since Roosevelt Middle School is an OKC City School it's probably subject to the enforcement of OKC lawenforcement codes.

I'm glad they caught this kid before he could perpetrate some heinous act with this obviously terrorist-inspired tool.  Make no mistake, a permanent marker exists for one purpose and one purpose only - writing on large, unmarred surfaces in an effort to express one's inner thoughts or aspirations.  This is just the thin end of the wedge.  Next, he'll want to learn about spelling, grammar, and logic, and we all know where THAT leads!  He's not too young to be shipped off to Gitmo.  In fact, it would be a good idea to protect our homeland from the insidious evil that seeps from the end of a perverted permanent marker before it causes the blood of patriots to seep into the very ground beneath our feet.  Markers lead to people expressing ideas, and our freedom may depend on quashing the marker, the person holding it, and the very ideas he represents.

They probably need to arrange a meeting with Richard Roberts to arrrange an exorcism as well.
