Currently Bixby's last day of school is June 6th. That is without anymore snowdays. Jeesh...no summer for me.

Snowfall forecast totals

Hasn't changed a whole lot..the heavier band moved a little further north.  Keep in mind this is the NAM forecast...one for the GFS exists too and it is MUCH different for whatever reason.  Though it has inched upwards a little since the previous run.

Those seem a little high.

This was the same model run that last week nailed the amounts for Tulsa and points north (14-20 inches).  I'd watch to make sure, since the GFS run had much lower numbers.  The difference last week wasn't as dramatic (NAM had 14-20 where the GFS was plotting 10-14).

And keep in mind NWS forecasters use an amalgamation of several different model sources.  You have to read the local AFD (Area Forecast Discussion) to see what models they're blending.  Sometimes they use a local home-grown model based on years of data they have for a geographic region blended with the other computer models.

Most local meteorologists have forecasted between 5 and 10 inches. We'll never go back to school if we get 14 inches again.

I never said that we would.  The models suggest that's possible, so plan for it.  The NAM has a swath of 14" just north of the metro, but the GFS is showing 6-8".  NWS is stating 5-10"; most local TV forecasters just parrot the NWS forecast and tweak it a little so they don't appear like they're not doing their own number crunching.  Remember a week before last week's storm?  They were stating (including the NWS) that we would get 2-4 inches.  Well, we all know what happened there.  Forecasting wintry precip is harder than forecasting the path of a tornado 30 minutes in advance.

Yeah I remember last week. The forecast totals went up every day.

The News on 6 showed a model that suggested higher amounts south of Tulsa around the Bixby, Jenks, Bristow area. It showed 12 to 13 inches for these areas while only about 7 for Tulsa.
