Thanks for the heads up on that Red. At least 111th will be cleared. Now, how do I get there from my house?
That's new. During the big ice storm, Bixby cleared no roads. They might have tried to do something to Memorial, but they failed miserably.

Oh, and it's still getting worse. My neighbor's Rogue is now buried up to the grille:

The same way I get to either Memorial or 111th, wait for the SUVs to pack the snow down so my car will clear.   ;D

They bought "the" plow since the ice storm.  Memorial south of 101st has always been a problem (the north bound side is Bixby south of 101st) although Bixby now claims the state will take care of Memorial.  No one has in the past.  If I could get the first 1-1/2 mi, I could usually get to work, even when I worked in the Mid-America Industrial Park near Pryor.

Edit:
Add link for Bixby folks.

For the first time ever, I couldn't get out and drive because of the weather.  I dug out of my parking spot, then got stuck again.  After about an hour of trying to even get headed towards the exit of the parking lot I gave up and dug my way back into the parking spot.  So I ended up hiking down to Reasors to get some food for a couple of days.  Was a cold walk.  Vehicles stuck all over the place, including trucks and 4x4s.  Though I hope those kids in the jeep that laughed at us as they flew by end up in a 20 ft drift.

I believe I just heard on the TV (Ch 6) that American is closing the maintenance base for the first time in 64 years.

I heard that on KOTV too, but it wasn't confirmed on our internal news page and my supervisor (unsurprisingly) knew nothing about it.  Regardless, I'm not going to work tomorrow because I probably can't get out of the neighborhood.  I've seen two FWD trucks with generous ground clearance go down our street.  They were the only vehicles I've seen.  The air dam on my Gran Prix probably wouldn't make a good snow plow.

May you live in interesting times.

The plows always block the entrance to our neighborhood in Bixby. Even our SUV does not seem to want to go through a four foot tall wall of snow.

You could get away that in years gone by. These days, you'll have fourteen airbags blowing up in your face.  :P

Algore has spoken, it's officially global warming:

QuoteAn Answer for Bill February 1, 2011 : 11:43 AM
Last week on his show Bill O'Reilly asked, "Why has southern New York turned into the tundra?" and then said he had a call into me. I appreciate the question.

As it turns out, the scientific community has been addressing this particular question for some time now and they say that increased heavy snowfalls are completely consistent with what they have been predicting as a consequence of man-made global warming:

"In fact, scientists have been warning for at least two decades that global warming could make snowstorms more severe. Snow has two simple ingredients: cold and moisture. Warmer air collects moisture like a sponge until it hits a patch of cold air. When temperatures dip below freezing, a lot of moisture creates a lot of snow."

"A rise in global temperature can create all sorts of havoc, ranging from hotter dry spells to colder winters, along with increasingly violent storms, flooding, forest fires and loss of endangered species."

I'm going to take a lesson from AlGore and start profiting from Global Warming.

I'm going to start selling snow blowers.
