Maybe all of the local schools can just hold back all of the kids an extra year.   Think of the advantage Tulsa area sports teams would have with all the kids being a year older.

Too bad the weather is widespread enough that most of the area schools would have the same advantage, making it not an advantage.  Maybe the extra year would allow the kids to graduate with an actual high school level education.

The roads were snow packed but drivable.

Only time I had an issue was when I got behind a plow on the HW.  Couldn't see squat as I came up on him due to blowing snow...last two miles was about 15 mph.

I was able to maintain about 40 or so on the HW.

Wow, the meteorologists missed this one.

Not really...they were saying 4 to 8" last night for Tulsa.  I'd say they were pretty spot on.

The 20" or so reported North of Tulsa might've shocked a few.

Tulsa seriously dodged a bullet...and I still have a fresh 5-6" on the ground. 12+ inches from Osage county into northwest Arkansas. Saw a 20" report in Delaware county.
Yeah, if that band had set up 20-30 miles farther south last night, we would have gotten quite the wallop. Instead, we just got a relatively high-end winter storm (for our area), that still continues, and will probably be good for another half-inch to an inch.

NWS Tulsa was saying that there would be a heavier-than-forecast band somewhere, but that they couldn't predict where, so they got that right, too.

Channel 6 said 8-12 inches for Tulsa at 10:00 last night.

It never ceases to amaze me that people complain about a forecast being off by 20 or 30 miles.

Oh, I'm not complaining, I'm just saying. Even Travis Meyer was talking about his forecast being off.

If I could get to Memorial, I'd probably be OK.  There was still enough stuff on our street from last week that my car scraped bottom occasionally last night before the snow started.

Even with a bed full of snow and new tires it's very iffy getting out of my neighborhood.  Fortunately, the pavement in front of my driveway in the street was clear and dry before this round of snow which means at least I won't get stuck in front of my house.  Down the block might be a different issue  8)

62 forecast for next Wednesday.  I'd like to see that happen very much.

I'm a meteorologist with the NWS...I just happened to be off for this event! Spent 2 nights at work during last weeks storm.

There was one computer model (out of about 7-8 that we use) that absolutely nailed this.  It was an outlier as all the other models suggested that the max would be a little south of Tulsa.  Tough call and tough forecast.  I'm sure we'll spend some serious time re-examining this event.

I couldn't be more proud with how our office performed over the last 2 weeks. I've been doing this for over 20 years and this is hands down the bet group of mets I've been associated with.

Never shy away from giving us a call or asking for a quick tour.

Thanks for the hard work Charky!

That expensive network of traffic cameras on the highways leading into Tulsa (that are supposed to show traffic conditions) only seem to work in good weather.
