Beginning at midnight (which was 5 minutes ago), you need to dial 10 digits (918-xxx-xxxx) for your phone calls to go through.

Appropriately, the new 539 area code will start having assignments for new numbers or changed numbers on April 1st (April Fools Day).

What genius chose that day I wonder.

Doesn't work that way.  You can't get switching systems to recognize the difference between a valid 7 digit number within one or the other area code.  If it was such a 'duh' moment, then why don't other overlays do it.  It's called people being lazy.

Driving in on the Turner this morning, KRMG made it sound like the apocalypse had occurred.  Did I miss a slow news week last week?

Watched KOTV news tonight.   They had a segment about 911 getting a lot of hang up and accidental callers. 

The segment pointed out to not hang up.  Stay on the line and tell them you called them by mistake.   If you hang up they have to call you back and make sure there is no emergency.  If you do not answer when they call you back they have to send out an officer to check on your well being.   

Just one of the unintended consequences of a bad decision by the Corporation Commission.
