bitc#es working there I've ever seen. Feel the negative energy that seeps out of the workers. I actually dread going there. In the last 3 years I've worked downtown, I'd say I go in there about 2-3 times a year and only because it's conveniently located to where I work. And it's not all of the clerks because in fairness, I have come across 1 or 2 who are pleasant.

I too, work for government. I at least have the knowledge to push through whatever (pain or misery) I may be feeling and try to always answer the phone with a smile or return politeness to a client who is trying to be kind and respectful. These women do not deal with nearly the same volume of people as other government workers - the place is always empty! I'm almost certain their pay is fair and benefits, kick a$$. I don't get it. I'm not sure if they just need a refresher on basic mannerism skills or what. They seem to have a perma-V between their eyes and when I do hear them speak with respect, it sounds watered-down and condescending. I would be shocked if I ever saw one of them smile. They need lessons in unwrinkling the V to at least form some sort of horizontal line.

At about 4 pm yesterday I went in there and literally felt like I had to gear myself up to, first approach the clerk with a smile and a hello. And no, my smile and hello was not returned. There was 1 other customer around. After the clerk cut me off and 'barked' that I had the wrong label, (my apologies!) my thought process was to still be as kind to her as possible. And so I was. That made things worse because as I told her, "Thank you very much, Ma'am", she angrily went, "Hmmm" and rolled her eyes at me! What the?? I will inconvenience myself and go elsewhere next time.

Yet another reason this hideous building should be torn down and replaced with something useful...

All locations are bad, but this one is definitely worse.

Granted, it seems like 50% of their customers are homeless picking up their government assistance checks.

Has the alpha bitc# left/retired/quit?
I haven't seen her for several months and IMO the place has improved considerably.

We went over this before right?

If I remember right, a number of us tried to find some sort of contact number/email and they all hit dead ends.

Shoot, next time raise your voice to a near yell but be pleasant.  The whole conversation just raise your voice.  See if it gets a different reaction.  If it doesn't, yell "ARE YOU HAVING A BAD DAY?  IT SURE SEEMS LIKE YOU'RE HAVING A BAD DAY."  At least you'll feel better.

I'll try it next time I need a post office...sometime within the next year or so.

I hope that person doesn't "go postal" on you when you try to embarrass them.

Yeah, they might refuse to...not really sure what I'd need them to do actually...

This one skinny woman (possibly a supervisor or seniority holder) was so consistently bad as to make me avoid the PO alltogether.  No way to complain, though, postmasters apparently dont use phones or Email.

I shipped a package out last Wednesday evening just before closing and the person that helped me was very pleasant.

Their attitudes don't seem that bad to me most of the time. It's just the incredible, glacial slowness with which they move that irritates me.

Nearly every person in front of me in line requires the one worker to make a 10-minute trip somewhere in the back rooms of that building. You know they have way too many workers standing around doing nothing, but that doesn't translate into speed of service.

And the fact that they have zero vending machines means you have to wait in this incredibly slow line for every little thing. I complained once about the lack of vending. They say it's because homeless people ruin them. Not sure why they can't at least put vending machines in the counter area and lock it after business hours, at the very least.

If I want to do anything after hours, I end up going to the one near 15th/Lewis, because that one has stamp vending and one of those box shipping machines.

Don't get me started on mail holds. Every single time I fill out a mail hold, they screw it up. They do deliver my mail hold form at the end of the time.  Or they just never resume delivery until I play phone tag several times. One of those instances involved a carrier calling me at 5am to ask if I wanted my mail resumed.
