QuoteTULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa County commissioners approved a seven-day burn ban for Tulsa County in an emergency meeting Monday, April 4, 2011.

Gusty south winds along with low relative humidity values over the next few days will create a high fire danger.

Commissioners said they surveyed all 15 fire chiefs in Tulsa County, all of whom supported the ban.

They approved the ban after being briefed by Roger Jolliff, deputy director of the Tulsa Area Emergency Management Agency.

Jolliff said he consulted with the National Weather Service, which forecast very little rain over the next week.

Jolliff said the fire chiefs estimate that 20 percent of the recent wildfires in Tulsa County started as controlled burns.

Under a burn ban, all outdoor burning is illegal including burning trash, starting a campfire or grilling with charcoal, wood or any grill that could have exposed embers.

Anyone caught burning during a ban can face up to a $1,000 fine and a year in jail.

There goes the 3-B's for this weekend.   Burgers, Brats and Beer.   Well, I can still do the beer.    ;D

How about a stove top griddle?

I can't cook unless there is an open sky over my head.  (That is unless it's Sunday Breakfast).  ;D

No exposed embers here; I have a propane grill.  Burgers this weekend!  Woohoo!

What would happen if you put it in the broiler on your oven?

Bill O'Reilly?  I'd imagine he'd be a squealer.

Apparently Glenn Beck quit over it.

I flew over I-40 the other day and between Ft. Smith and OKC, there were a couple dozen fires still going on.  Made a nearly state wide haze.  At least over the east half of the state.

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

I read somewhere that Fox showed him the back door, rather than Beck throwing in the towel.

FYI for those who didn't catch the "charcoal" part of the ban- Tulsa Fire Department is advising that grilling with propane or gas is fine on an asphalt or concrete surface no closer than 10 feet from other combustible material.

Of course that still sucks for me since I don't own a gas or propane grill.
