There is going to be a 5K Hunger Run this Saturday at 8:15 am at 96th & RiverSide Dr. I'm thinking on running this race. If ya see anyone there with ugly blue shoes and blacks running shorts on that'll be me. :)

I don't need to run 5K to get hungry.  At 8:15 AM on the weekends, my dog is usually waking me up to be let outside.

Everyone going...wear ugly blue shoes and blacks running shorts.  Kind of like all the derby hats in the Thomas Crown Affair when he supposedly puts the painting back.

They will also have tee shirts. I heard the slogan will be "Will Run For Food". Anyhow the 5K is for a good cause and the weather promises to be good. I have not had much time to train but I'll do my best, I'd like to beat my old 5K record time but don't think I will be able to. The race will be run on the RiverSide Jogging trail. $20.00 sign in on race day.

Straight down US-75 about 5 days, 4 hours per google.

I did the 5K the weather was grand, many people signed up. The tee shirts read "Will Run For Food" - They also had a 1K fun run for the kidz, even some real small tots ran in that with their parents. I think that's super getting children intested in running at such a young age, it's also the key to a healthy lifestyle. Many kids also ran in the regular 5K. My time was 27:33, not too happy with it but I did not have much time to train. I think I also started off too far back in the pack, I had to pass many other slower runners. The race course was from the Jenks Bridge to just north of the Casino & back all done on the RiverSide Jogging Trail. Anyhoo,I came in 4th place in my age group with a time of 27:33 and next to my name they put "5.31" whatever that means. They posted the results right after the race on a print out.

I'd like to know  how many total runners were in the race and what number I finished in overall, those results should be posted on-line. I feel I did pretty darn good, the nice weather was a blessing. The race was also for a good cause.. I still need to train more and do speed work before I enter another race. Those 5K's are short but fast runs, IMO the longer 6 mile or 10 mile races are more easy since you don't have burn so hard, you can cruise thru the middle miles and pour on the speed the last mile. As I get older my time slows down. They should of raised alot of money for the hungery.. :D

Thanks, I dunno how many names total would of ended up in my age group- they had about 6 or 7 names in my age group posted when I last looked at the posted print out (males ages 55-59). I did not stick around till everyone was done. I came in 4th in my age group with a time of 27:33. Other runners were still trickling in when the clock was over 40 minutes and that's when I left. There seemed to be alot of runners in the race. Had a darn good time and it was a good race. edited to add there were 11 in my age group, the 1st and 2nd place runners in my age group had a very impressive time of 17: (something) and 19: (something).

For past results and upcoming races...

http://www.oksportsandfitness.com/

A "triathon" is listed as a upcoming event I never did one of those,  I'm not a fast swimmer, and I have no good bike to use in that part of the race, and I'm not a good cyclist anyhow, but that's gotta be one heck of a work out. The final race results of the Saturday  Panera 5K Hunger Run form June 4th are posted on line there were many impressive runners in that event. I need to work on my speed and pace per km. I want to beat my old 5K record time that I set in 2008.. I think the const. work on the RiverSide Trail is done south of I-44 someone took down the orange fence and runners and cyclists are  using that new trail, but don't know if it's legally open, there is still some more work that needs to be done.

For some reason I think of the the creepy kid in Mad Men when I think of him being named Glenn.
