Mid-Town Subs and building......Going bye bye.......New restraunt going in at that location with roof top seating......

If the new building is up to the street with parking behind, I will consider it a success.

DowntownDan

Seems like an odd place for a rooftop patio.  Great view of the IDL?  Also kind on the opposite side of the BA from Cherry Street.  I live right by, so I would definitely give it a shot.

AquaMan

Its not the IDL view that is great. Its the sun setting behind the skyline. Maple Park also has a stunning view at sunset.

That's great!!! There is a lot of activity 13th to 15th on Peoria right now. I hope the new restaurant fronts to the street.

Japanese (not sushi).  Two story structure.

And the views of downtown from that site are amazing.  I wish I had that piece of property.

Didn't the "Kitchen Korner" just move there from downtown?  I believe a church bought his building downtown, but not positive.

Kenosha

IDK, but they were near First United Methodist, who seems to be in the buying mode.

Hopefully this is the case.  I thought that site would be developed into modern condos overlooking the skyline by now..

If I remember correctly, in the late 80s, Chimi's owned that land behind there and planned on building a new place with rooftop seating and views on the property. They ended up selling it to a developer that built that small housing development there. It would have been good for Chimi's to have been there...

At least that's what I remember...but it was the 80s, so..well, you know...

I biked by there and noticed there is also an empty lot behind the Midtown subs building.  I wonder if that is part of the property?  Even if it isn't there is plenty of room for a Peoria-facing building with parking behind to the west.  There's also an empty lot to the south by the dead end 14th Pl next to Whataburger.

Down Peoria to the north are the newly remodeled buildings at 13th where Eats2U is located and a building at 12th that is being renovated and will be the new home of Phat Philly's.

I drove by tonight and didn't notice any demolition.  Maybe it was the Franzikaner I had at Kilkenny's that distorted my perception. :)

Yea and those great old apartments on the east side of Peoria should be in pristine shape and commanding top dollar with the that view. I've been in some of them and they are huge for an apartment with great hardwood floors. Cant understand why the owner lets them get so run down.
