We just need a few million more to stop looking and the numbers will look great!

I wonder if I'm considered unemployed since I voluntarily left the law firm practice.
Someone get Hoss a pacifier.

No, you are not.  And no matter how long you are unemployed and without income, you will never be eligible for food stamps.  (You "own" a house.)

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

Not correct.  My mother owns a house and IS eligible for them.

How did that happen?  I talked to them several times during extended time off, and got the same 'no' every time!

A lot of other factors are weighed.  Firstly, she's disabled (permanently; subdural hematoma) and on fixed income.  Second, she was awarded the house as part of divorce proceedings in 2005.  She's been on SSI/SoonerCare since that, and now on Social Security.  They would analyze her every year, and this is the first she's been eligible for SNAP assistance.

That's the difference.  Condolences to her.

Most very successful retired people smart enough to shelter their assets in a trust are counted as impoverished, because the way the government makes those assumptions is archaic, but won't be changed because it serves politicians well.

According to the government my parents are well under the poverty line, and starving.

I consider my self to live in Poverty (a town within Bixby City Limits) because I cannot afford a new paint job and upgraded instrument panel for my airplane.   ;D

"Now that the financial industry and major corporations have successfully lobbied Congress to make more people poor and to keep them that way, they are discovering the downside of unbridled greed: people are too broke to buy their products."

We suffer from the constant decisions by Bush and his brain made based on re election and not what was in our Nation's best interest.

Don't stop blaming the GOP/Teabaggers excreted by SCOTUS/Bush Years onto all of us.
