First time for me since my soldiering days. By the way...

My body's used to this more in August than June, but I lived in Houston for three years so that helped me some.  It is quite muggy though and would sure like to see this break tomorrow night (70% chance of storms and then the highs moderate to the upper 80s/low 90s for the rest of week).

Gotta love Oklahoma weather.

Just got back in from Boston, and it is so odd that humidity and temp can be the same in both places, but here it seems to be so much more of a punch you in the face and laugh at you kind of heat.  Not looking forward to feeling like I opened the door and stepped into the preheated oven when I walk out the door that will come in the next couple of months.

Once you have a significant episode of heat exhaustion, you become more susceptible to repeats later in life (not stronger).
My first time happened at a civil war reenactment in Champions Hill, Mississippi, which had something to do with marching across large fields while wearing lots of wool in 100+ weather.  The upside was that I was sponged down by a flock of nurses in the period-correct field hospital.  The doctors had the modern IV's and O2 in tents out of the public view for the more severely affected.

Worse case I assisted with was a friend who lost all heat regulation and began shivering thinking he was cold.
He couldnt remember the day or year, skin bone dry, and was on the verge of stroking when the ambulance reached him.  He was outdoor-sey, so acclimated, but the ER discovered a tick bite that no one knew about so that was believed to have weakened him.

Actuall I love it hot, it can't be too hot for me- When I lived in Texas in the 1980's I loved the warm mild weather and I missed it when I moved to Ohio in 1990... I like wearing shorts and "T" shirts all day long. The flip side is I cannot stand cold weather, I hate it cold. I'm a wuss when it's cold. So crank up the sun and lets have a real  Summer!  :D

I leave for Colorado the first time July 8.  Leadville was under a winter weather advisory today!!  This is one of my teammates out for a pre-ride for the LT-100 we are doing on Aug. 13.  This shot was taken on the course near Leadville Saturday up on Sugarloaf Pass.

Come on out here when it gets to 120, and you start the day at 100 at 9:00 in the morning.

Just keep ignoring most of the last decade when snowfall (and rainfall) was well below normal in the Rockies.

And the fact that we've been 10 to 15 degrees above normal here in Tulsa...oh, silly me, he don't live in Tulsa so he wouldn't feel that excess heat.

Most of this year has alternated between 10 degrees below or 10 degrees above normal.
