This is my nephew's reaction.   He is stationed in Afghanistan right now.

QuoteFor those of you who don't have google+ accounts yet, don't bother going over. They just SEVERELY PISSED ME OFF by taking some pretty extreme liberties with my computer, my phone, and all kinds of personal information and data stored in both and decided to post it to my page all by themselves. I recommend NOT making the swap. I'm fuming over this invasion.

Again with the eBay example, everyone thought Yahoo auctions would supplant them in short order because they were bigger and more diverse and could bring more customers to the table.  Never happened.  Facebook has become really entrenched in American culture when you think of social networking much like eBay has become "the" name in online auctions.

I never used Myspace and I've never used Linked In.  I simply don't see the need.  Unless all my friends go to G+ in droves, and quit using FB, I don't see a need to start going there.

I don't see anyone leaving fb for G+ anytime soon.  It will be a long road of duel use before people really start cutting the FB tie

I'm just about there.  I know of many who are as well.

Those that use FB to get their Mafiawars/Farmville/StupidFBGameoftheWeek fix in, they'll never leave.  I like the fact though, that G+s security settings are easier to navigate and you can select who you're posting to.

I never saw FB as a place to play games.  I'm sure Google at some point will do this, but right now they're experiencing good growth.  I'll likely use both, but I'm using FB far less these days.

You need an invite?

the problem with abandoning the FB ship right now is that it means rebuilding your network, and with only a fraction of the users on G+ yet, that causes a problem.  And don't need an invite, already there :D

I like the circles function a lot, and the ability to follow people that aren't your "friends" in a twitter like fashion.

AND the ability for you to not allow that to happen.

Sure, you can do that on FB.  They just make the process incredibly convoluted.  GPlus makes it simpler.

I'm liking the Sparks functionality too.

I will say that I do like the layout of the page and the circles concept is great.  But it feels to me it is more designed for content makers than content viewers.  Which is why I don't know if people will move over in droves.

I just hope it doesn't fracture the social market too much.  The concept of tracking four different services makes my head hurt (Google +, Facebook, Twitter, and Linked-in).

I think it could be a powerful tool for business too. I could set up circles for each of the different projects I am currently working on or managing so that I can talk to all the stakeholders and worker types at once and keep an easy real time log of progress over time.

Salesforce has something similar to this called Chatter, but I don't really care for it so much. Google+ would work much better.

I guess for me that's the whole point; it's not bloated.

And I have many people on it right now Scott.

You're obviously not doing it right.

;D

I've got about 30 on there but it doesn't integrate with twitter or facebook, and doesn't tie into any 3rd party apps, so the only posts are by people consciously going to G+ to post.

In other words, all I see when I log in is "Social media experts" repeatedly talking about how great it is.

What do you know about these kinds of claims?

No... Just no... Google already knows too much about me, I have no desire to have my browser history connected to my name.I'll politely decline any request of me to join Google +
