I know many of us have been checking out Google's latest foray into the social website, Google+, or as it's fast becoming known, GPlus.

While I still enjoy FB, I think Zuckerberg et al have some serious competition on their hands.

First off, it's pretty light (read that as no stinkin' MafiaWars or FarmVille).  And it lets you choose, much more easily, whom you converse with.

I have some invites left for those interested in joining; please PM me and we can hash out details.

But I found this fairly entertaining.

I'm on it but I don't know if I want to take the time to build another social site.

I managed to get an invite last night, so I have some myself. Still checking out, so not sure what to think of it, yet.

I'm on it. It's like a social site with hardly anyone on it, doing nothing, and it integrates with nothing and has no API.

I think I'll post a Google Buzz about it, or maybe start a Google Wave...

That little vid reminds me of an employee of Office Depot who bought himself a blue neoprene suit like that one that covers from head to toe. Apparently he wears it during his glow stick presentations at area clubs. He dropped by the store one morning when he was off work to pick up his business cards and the whole store went Loony Toons. The management berated him, escorted him out, and threatened to fire him. Life is getting weird.

I guess for me that's the whole point; it's not bloated.

And I have many people on it right now Scott.

You're obviously not doing it right.

;D

Can someone explain to me how Facebook makes money? The creepy spam adds on the right cannot be bringing in that much cash and there's no way that Mafia Wars payments are going to pay for the kind of server load they must have with a mySQL DB with 500 million users.

I certainly can see how they COULD make a lot of money, but they aren't doing it not and the cost to run the thing has to be huge.

FaceBook is on the way out, new sites will take it's place.

They said the same thing about eBay 10 years ago.

Are you on Facebook?

Tell me what happens when you "like" something.

It only a matter of time before it get's cluttered just as FB.  If everyone remember we left Myspace for the clean looks of FB.  Now that FB is the most popular it is now cluttered.  I feel like I have heard these arguments all before.

Google Plus will only matter when the technically challenged get on board.  If they don't get the grandmothers then they won't be overtaking Facebook anytime soon.

I already know several of those 'technically challenged' that are on board.

And I'm not saying they'll overtake FB, but FB will be losing users I predict.  In waves they've never seen.

I don't see anyone leaving fb for G+ anytime soon.  It will be a long road of duel use before people really start cutting the FB tie
