It's an astounding turn around to have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in such a monumental fashion thinking the Dems would be in power 10 years just 3 years ago. That study bears some analysis before making such a large leap. Your new Independent leaning status may be leading you astray.

First off, it was an online poll. Do you know what percentage of the voting population is actually wired up and willing to do an indepth online survey? My retail company offered $50 product discounts, coupons, etc. and still barely got anyone to respond to a 15 minute online survey about our service. Even the ones that did were either very happy or very pissed. Its always the ones with strong feelings or relationships with employees that respond.

Secondly, the real thrust of the poll was to show that Republicans are unsettled about their candidates and need to pull together if they want to take the presidency back. They simply don't like their choices.

Thirdly, and this is the key I took from the numbers, Independents made up nearly half of the poll respondents and 80% of those respondents describe themselves as very conservative. These are likely not voters who put Obama in office. So in reality this was a poll of Republican or Republican leaning voters who don't like the Tea Party segment of the Republican offerings yet aren't thrilled with the others either. But they would vote for "anyone but Obama".

Lastly, Guiliani actually polled better with this group than Romney did. How did he do last time? Neither one of these guys put much distance between Obama, polling 53/47 and 51/49. Statistically falling within a 3 pt margin. Its a long time before elections and lots of time for gaffes.

The reports of Obama's demise are greatly exaggerated.

That stroke post of yours had nothing to do with my edit. The points I was trying to clear up were: 1) Rudy G. was not part of the "no wit and seven dummies" debate crap that started that thread (and he is beating Obama in a BS poll), and 2) that I continue to hate polls because they are meaningless/slanted/biased. Period. Seriously, do you really think you are so smart or clever that I would edit a post because of you?
