Going with Marshall's Old Pavilion Pilsner later tonight. What can I expect?

Wow, all this time I thought your hobby centered on maintaining constipation.  :D

Like what kind off steampunk items?  Do you weld?  Steampunk and Art Deco are close relatives imo.   I would love to have a sci-fi area in the TADM and have a collection of rayguns for instance and have old Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon memorabelia right up to todays stuff that have that ethos (Rocketeer the recent Captain America).  Would be neat to have that section of the museum be a combo 40s-50s sci-fi/steampunk.
I have no idea if I'll be any good at it, and as I said, I need materials to even get started, but the projects I've got in mind right now are things like a new computer case and I want to build a steampunk design stereo.  I like the entire idea of steampunk and would like to move on to other things.  No, I don't weld... yet.

Neon Artist ay?

My hobby is working to create an Art Deco Museum for Tulsa.   Actually I don't know if you can call it just a hobby, more of an insane addiction lol.   www.TulsaArtDecoMuseum.com

But, back to that neon artist thing... I am wanting to create a museum display that replicates a mini theater front, likely the Delman, inside our "soon to be announced" starter museum space.

I would like the DELMAN sign to have neon going around it like in the photo. (If anyone knows what the colors were please let me know) I can make do without the lettering being neon by making them of white plastic and have lights inside the sign. But having the neon going around the sign would definitely be the crowning touch.  Would like the sign to be about 4' tall.

Now we are a super poor bunch and this is a "grassroots" museum effort that we hope the people of Tulsa will contribute to and help build up, so the only way we can do this is by having people "like neon artists" generously donate a little time. (and of course we would put a little plaque mentioning this wonderfully kind persons donation)  Perhaps we could also get a co-sponsor to help with some of the costs.  I could build the basic structure of the sign or possibly find a local sign company that might donate that, but it would really be nice to have that neon going around the edge.

Any possible interest or ideas,,, anyone,,,?    ;D

Is it open for a visit ?

Is it open for a visit ?

Not yet.  We are hoping to sign the lease on a little starter space downtown within a month, then at first will likely be for "sneek peek" previews on Saturdays this fall and shooting for a big Grand Opening in the Spring.

The Tulsa Art Deco Museum is a "grass roots" museum effort starting small and building up. We aren't big money folk, but are just a group of average Tulsan's teaming up together to try and create something fun, unique and wonderful for all of Tulsa.  Anyone can help out, everyone can make a difference.  This is YOUR museum.

Here in a couple of weeks we will put up a Wish List and Sponsor List, of items that we could use and possible ways to help out.  Starting out we will need everything from office items like stapler and paper, to display items like glass display cases, signage and printing, to larger sponsors of entire displays.  We will need people who will be willing to help watch the space for a 3 hour shift on those first Saturdays, we would love to know if anyone has some Art Deco items that they might be willing to donate or loan the museum for different displays.  We could even use help cleaning and painting the new space once we get it. Every little bit helps and at this point the little things can make a big difference in helping make this museum something we can all be proud of.  We have a great core of dedicated and talented people, and some great deco artifacts, but every additional bit of help we get from others will make the museum all that much better.

This is hilarious but no doubt the mods will censor it even though it's softer than the stuff you get on the net or MSM or tee wee....ENJOY! Good Laugh!

Excellent!  ;D

If we volunteer, do we get free admission?  I could probably sling some paint some time, if that would help.

As many times as I went to the Delman, I would have thought that would be permanently imprinted.  Red border with white name lettering?  (That is the first thing that came into the dusty, musty corners of my memory.  But don't rely on it...)

Right behind the theater used to be a sleazy little bar - can't remember the name.  Wasn't the Snake Pit, that was east a little ways on 15th.  Had one acquaintance got gutted like a fish at that bar late one night (he survived).  A second got stabbed in the heart and died a few hours later.  Was a pretty rough place in the 70's....

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.
