The Sooners moving west may be our best option.   Oklahoma and Oklahoma State would certainly be welcomed by an eventual Pac 16 Superconference.    Texas Tech & Texas or Kansas could round out a new 16 team Pac 12 with 8 team divisions of west & east schools which would comprise current Big 12 members Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Texas or Kansas.

The Texas Longhorn network will not function as Texas perceived it if Texas joins the Pac 12.  Texas may go independent or to the ACC where their Longhorn network could receive less scrunity and reconstruction.

That's a good point. I had thought OU might consider that as well but it would certainly complicate the other sports. Wouldn't preclude them succeeding, would simply be more complicated. Notre Dame and Penn State have figured out how to do it.

I was looking forward to the return of the Big 8.

I don't understand Texas Tech....and apparently, Kansas is headed east. Looks like the "leaving Texas behind"  was just Beevo smile.

You have good insight on this situation.  Oklahoma and Texas Universities' presidents have been given the green light to move on conference affiliation:

The problem for Texas though is that the Pac12 commish has already said 'even distribution'.  Of course Texas got a sweetheart deal regarding revenue sharing, but they likely will have to give up something in order to move.  Seems as if their Longhorn Network has been more problematic since they didn't see the writing on the wall.  From what I understand, Boren was talking about moving to the Pac last season, so he may look like a genius come the New Year.

I think anyone with a brain knows the first words out of Boren's mouth after last year's deal was: "love Texas!"

Sure, the college presidents are concerned or pretend to be concerned about academic standards--in the long run it's all about television sets:

Here are the latest media market rankings for top metropolitan areas in the U.S:

45 Oklahoma City 704,670
61 Tulsa 535,820

There are more than 1,240,000 TV households in the Tulsa & OKC markets combined.
