Ye, it sucks. Every day and at all hours, it sucks.

Some hours more than others but generally always.

It would probably help if they quit adding traffic lights. Just a few years ago it wasn't that terrible except during rush hour.

Sorry if this has been mentioned already but I'm too lazy to look.

Is there a grocery in the future?

Yea, Reasors...111th and Memorial. And another "grocer not in this area currently" that's being negotiated further to the north.

The developer of Tulsa Hills didn't allow Target enough space to open a Super Target because at one time there was supposed to be an upscale phase II (isn't there always) that was going to include a hotel, a whole foods type grocery store and the like. That upscale phase II is now Sam's Club and a car wash.

There also was supposed to be another development on the SW corner of US75 and 81st Street that was to include a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market but the sign for that center is long gone and I suspect long dead.

The Walk at Tulsa Hills, on the SE corner of US75 and 81st Street still seems to be planned. It's supposed to have a Whole Foods style store, a gym and a large movie theater. There never has been a sign for that development but there has been a lot of dirt being moved at either the back of this development or the front of the new neighborhood that's been under construction for some time behind the planned Walk at Tulsa Hills.

The Reasor's in Jenks is only three miles away and is about the best grocery store in the whole metro area not actually named Whole Foods. Also about three miles away the small but Whole Foods style Green Acres Market that is part of actually upscale The Village on Main development in Jenks is under construction and will open in the late spring or early summer.

That may be considered upscale in some places.

Get ready for one at 126th, 136th and possibly 146th

I should've specified.  In Tulsa Hills.

There needs to be one at 136th. That is an incredibly dangerous place. Very frequent car wrecks, usually serious.

What makes 136th more dangerous than 134th?  Looking at Google Maps, there are a lot more houses connecting to 134th on the east side of Memorial.  I only get that far south a few times a year, mostly when it's time to buy pepper plants from Carmichael's and Conrad's.

Yeah I know about 134th, I'm there every day, but at 134th there's a turn lane, not so at 136th. Also, I think a stoplight at 136th would help with traffic exiting at 134th.

South Bridge (neighborhood at 136th) did not think their location through.

Rather than a traffic light at 136th , 136th should connect to 134th behind the businesses and get rid of the direct connection of 136th to Memorial.  As you noted, the turn lane southbound on Memorial already exists. A southbound left turn arrow could easily be installed at 134th.

I agree with the southbound left turn arrow, but it's not possible to connect 136th to 134th behind the storage business because of retention ponds back there.

My ideal solution is tear down all of Southbridge, and bring back the awesome woods and bike trails that used to be back there. That used to be a fun place to go for a while.

Retention ponds may actually make it easier.  Build a low bridge across the area.  There will be no interest in building there so no one could complain that there were lost business or housing opportunities.

An alternative is to have another 100+ year flood.  Problem solved.

Not to hijack a thread and turn it into a discussion on stop lights, but I agree with you RA; instead of cluttering Memorial with lights, why not direct side traffic to the main lights.  111th back north to the turnpike is horrible.  Put in a couple stop lights per mile, but that should be it on a main thoroughfare like Memorial.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming... hence one reason I don't mind Tulsa Hills; two entrances, two lights with side roads/lots feeding into one main feeder street.
