After a 14 hour workday it was a treat to dine at a new restaurant where the staff was trained, the waiter could answer any question with knowledgr of the dish on the first day.  Heather was a very good server.  The patio is a great place to sit.  The brisket tacos were delicious.  The offically open to the public Tomorrow Tuesday.

I always wondered what $1.6 Million looked like.

I went with some coworkers yesterday for lunch - it was just ok.  There are many other mexican restaurants in Tulsa that are much tastier than this one.  It wasn't bad - just not great.  When we sat down I asked the chips and salsa guy if they had a hot salsa and he informed me that they did, but it costs extra - like $1.95.  pancakes!?  I decided to ask my server if he was serious that they charge for the hot salsa and she quickly told me the opposite - it was free, however they were stingy with it.  Pretty tasty - much better than the standard salsa they offer which basically tastes like tomato - not much else.  The bowls they bring the chips in were tiny and constantly empty because of it, so we were having to flag someone down multiple times to get more chips.  The chips are the thick yellow corn kind - kind of remind me of big fritos.  The portions were fine and food was average.  Soft drinks are served in a can.  I really think the only thing this place has to offer is location.  Pricey for average mexican.  I'll take a Las Americas, Abuelo's or Ted's over it any day.  Feel free to give it a try though.  Just my 2 cents.  I was really hoping it would be great. :-\

Soft drinks in a can? So I am assuming no free refills?

people in dallas will buy anything if the right signage is out front.

Mi Cocina isn't the best place for Mexican food, but it is pretty good and I have always found that they have great drinks.

The Kansas City location (plaza) that I have been to over the years was constantly crowded and had a bit of a nightclub feel, especially on the weekend.  I imagine the restaurant closing had something to do with the downstairs "VIP Room" that was Miami ultra-loungey, was 100% white with couches, tables, beds, and the like, and was said to be on of KC's largest cocaine hubs.

I especially liked it for drinks and dinner with groups of 6+ where the goal is not great authentic Mexican food, but instead is to get drunk and fed.

It's a chain from Dallas, what were you expecting?

Well just got back from lunch, I must say, I think its worth every penny...beats the local chains for sure: Chimi's, On the Border, Abuelous and wasn't very crowded at lunch, everyone was very friendly and knew the menu well...I will be going back..

I went by but couldn't find a parking space so I just moved on down the road....neighboring retail must be smarting as if the economy wasn't slow enough.

Maybe this will hammer the Chimi's next door enough to free that space up....let's all join forces and open up a place there too! Talk about visibility and a skyline view!

Ha Ha...Dallass chains should stay the hell away from infill local areas. JMHO.

I did drive all around, but got Lucky's instead.

Took a small group of out of town business colleagues to Mi Cocina last night.  Frankly, I was blown away by the food.  2 minutes after we sat down, a table next to us had to send back an extra order of brisket tacos because they had only ordered one so the server came over and let us have it as a sample.  They were excellent!  The service was top notch, which I really wasn't expecting so soon after opening.  The food came out in a timely manner and was nice and hot.  I thought their beef tacos had a very original flavor, I couldn't put it down that's for sure.    Plus I thought the prices were very reasonable.

Overall atmosphere was great and the Modelo was nice and cold and served in a cool square high ball-type frosty glass.  One of the most positive dining "experiences" I've had in Tulsa in awhile.

Everyone feel free to blast me now :)

Lose the frosty.  It can impart a stale freezer taste to your beer.
