So far the one in East Tulsa at 5th and Memorial is getting pretty spooky.

TULSA - Authorities made a shocking discovery Friday while in the process of draining an east Tulsa retention pond where a detached human foot was found three days ago.

On Tuesday, a woman was walking her dog near the pond at 5th and Mingo when the dog pulled a shoe from the water.  Inside the shoe was a human foot.

Shortly after Tuesday's find, investigators began draining the pond in an effort to uncover additional clues that could help them determine from where the foot came.

On Friday, as the water creeped lower, two vehicles were discovered inside the pond.

Officer Jason Willingham described the vehicles as a red SUV, possibly a Jeep Cherokee or Ford Explorer, and a green sedan, either a two- or four-door Honda Accord or Civic.

Police have confirmed that the Honda is listed as a stolen vehicle.

Homicide detectives are searching the area, flagging anything of interest to process as evidence.

The Tulsa Police Department's dive team returned to the scene to investigate further.  Divers have taken to the water to search the vehicles.

After they complete the search, police believe they'll be able to remove the vehicles from the water.

Several days into the investigation, police are still hoping to capture clues that will help them locate the person to whom the foot belongs.

"As far as the ongoing investigation into the shoe and the foot, there (have) not been any developments on that," said Willingham.  "Obviously we're hoping that something will give us a clue with what we find when the pond is drained as to the identity into that individual and we'll go from there."

I posted some where else that the retention ponds are like the canals in Phoenix and aroud the Miami area in Florida are great dumping grounds for stolen cars (including insurance fraud) guns, and all kinds of stuff.

These ponds take the pressure off the Arkansas River which used to serve that purpose.

Easier access when you get down to it. In Pheonix when they shut down the canals for maintenance work it takes longer to clean the crap thrown into them then the actual repair work. I have a relative that was a member of the Hollywood FL Fire Dept. dive team, and they hated getting a call for a car in a canal because they would find four or five cars at the same location, and having to search each one to find out which was the most recent.

KJRH tweet says they've found a body in one of the cars.

Two vehicles, one had the skeletal remains of what is believed to be a woman missing since 2006

Maybe we need to periodically drain all the retention ponds just to see what's down there.

They brought out a specialist to keep from this happening, or at least that is what the article alluded to.

I believe it's 5th and Mingo, not Memorial.  Seeing as how I can walk over there in about 180 seconds

Just out of curiosity, where is the water being pumped to?
Is it going down a storm drain, or in tankers to be replaced once they have finished exploring?

I'm guessing with the location, they're probably pumping it into Mingo Creek.

A small boat with the appropriate sonar would be much more efficiant....
